Actually this is called Victorian Market - Longton.
At the past longton has two markets, but this is the first market was built. Second market was at commerce street, it was demolished in 1970s (dont know the actual year).
This building has 200 year history, also was built with victorian style, that is the reason which is called victorian market.
After built the market,it has rebuilt again on 1844 and 1862.
It has morethan 200 stoles, but currently cant see morethan 50-60 stoles are opend.
You can buy fresh meat, vegetables ,fruits ,groceries, dairy products, clothes ,shoes, books, gift shops, cafes and etc....
Market opens wednesday, friday and saturday till 9 am to 5 pm.
A breath of fresh air, still a thriving indoor market, the sad point is that there are empty stalls. well organised market with clean toilets. The market cafe is worth a visit, pleasent friendly atmosphere, the meals and snacks, coffee, tea are all really well priced and affordable and the quality is 5xxxxx. Be sure to visit the oatcake stall which sell top quality oatcakes, not too thin or too thick and of a decent size, excellent value for the money. What makes this and the town centre is the free parking on the car park by matalan and all close together, cafes and all sorts of shops make this place an all in pleasent shopping experience. Indoor market open Wednesday, Friday and saturday.well worth a visit.
Despite some stalls being empty there is still plenty to see and lots to buy. It's a good place for crafts. Lots of yarn, fabric and haberdashery. There's a butcher, an excellent cheese shop, a lovely sweet stall, some gift stalls, a phone repair shop, card shop, clothing and shoe stalls, second hand book stall, and 2 lovely cafés. Looking forward to my next visit.
Lovely market. friendly Stallholders, and two Cafes serving a variety of snacks, sandwiches, breakfasts, and dinners. all at reasonable prices. Great cheese counter selling a large variety, and many others very interesting stalls ,too many to list here.Always worth a visit.
Longton Market is a charming spot with a Victorian-era vibe and a lovely building. It's a gem that could shine even brighter with more artisan stalls to bring it back to life.
Generally my 'go to' place for wool, buttons and other sewing things. Janet on the Emery's wool stall is always very welcoming & always get fixed up on the haberdashery opposite ( sorry l don't know the lady's name)
Good market Steve's brilliant butcher always got lovely meats never had a problem roast ,boild ham very tasty ,
A very victorian feel which is solid and active, clean and well used. Although like all markets it is suffering from closed down stalls this market is more active and bustling than most. Well worth a visit with a good cafe inside and plenty of good stalls.
