Fabulous area and atmospheric ruins of a mighty castle. Plenty to explore and climb for the kids but a few out of bounds places too. A long winding ascent from the beach car park, which has food, drink and public toilets.
Quite a stroll from the carpark, but worth it
As a frequent visitor, this place never ceases to lift my heart, and get me grounded again. Even though there were a number of dog walkers the beach was free of excrement or nasty little black bags parcels just left fo someon/ nature to deal with. A lovely morning was spent

This is one of my favourite castles. The walk up is pretty steep but it is in most castles. The views are spectacular. It was a nice day and we could see Worms Head as well as along the coastline. It is beautiful. Well worth a visit. The benches in the picture were perfect for us to stop and get our breath back. My only disappointment was that we were too late in the day to get icecream ???????? Definitely need to come earlier next time.
Good car park on the estuary with colourfull cottages down the side. Toilets and a cafe too. Believe it is free, but there is also a second car park just a short distance away that is definitely free (no over night camping).

Easy parking close to the sands with refreshment places. Castle is easy to access. A beautiful quiet place to walk and take in the history.
