Best KPortal Reviews

This place was recommended by our hosts which we chanced for our anniversary meal. To be safe we booked a table for the Saturday night but that was not required...( there's a discouraging sign aka restaurant near empty on a Saturday. )
Walking into the pub we were asked if we wanted to sit near the bar or restaurant, we opted for the restaurant for that more romantic feeling..
Have to say please can someone gift this place a leveller as all the pictures were skewiff aha
We were the only couple, adjacent to us was a some young chav girls using it as a place to congregate with their mates.
The drinks were basic but reasonably priced so I risked a French Martini which tasted like Oasis.
The starters offered a good variety I ended up choosing the scallops with pea puree and parmaham for £8.50 and my partner a mozzarella salad.
My x3 scallops were undercooked and for the price offensive. My partners salad was plentiful with fresh tomato and low grade mozzarella but the olives on top had been living in a jar since the dawn of time. Very mouldy in appearance and taste. This was fed back, sure the waitress then informed the chef who eyeballed us but nothing further occurred to appease we were just given a weak apology.
For mains I chose the seabass with prawns and chorizo my bf selected the prawn asparagus risotto. My main I could not fault, the flavours were all there and every cooked nicely. The added vegetables were a let down.. they had made some tasty potatoes but then accompanied this with frozen veg laced with butter?
The risotto was good apparently but once again undercooked seafood.
Overall felt the waitresses did not want to be there and food very hit or miss. Any chance of any ambiance was dashed from loud young girls .Would I return, no.
Food is nice. Service isn't great. Not sure if it's because they're so busy but second time going and second time we've had food forgotten. 1.5 HR wait for mains and 30mins plus for dessert. All in all, we was there 3 hours and left without having 3 of our desserts. Staff aren't greatly fussed but I don't know if that because of so many complaints from different tables and got fed up of being moaned at.
We had a very enjoyable meal for 2 last night. The restaurant was busy, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The portions were large, there was a good menu and the food was very tasty.
The place had a nice ambience and my partner was even given a yellow rose as we left. A very nice touch. ????????????
I wish I could say nicer things. The menu is great and the food nice but there us no ambience and it's not a pleasant place to dine. Last time we went someone on another table was taking delight in repeatedly burping as loud as he could. Service is poor. Some softer lights and music would help and staff that are attentive, not forgetful.
First visit, quite busy, quite nice surroundings, larger inside than it looks. No issues, staff were fine but a little inexperienced. Surprisingly inexpensive. The food was perfectly fine. The place represents very good value and I'll visit again.
Huge menu choice but really very disappointed. My husband had the lamb shank which was atrocious. A whole lot of mash, a shank and the most off, burnt tasting sauce ever…poured all over it spoiling the whole meal. I had the king prawns, you expect prawns in a shell, but all I got was frozen prawns, a side salad that consisted mainly of half an onion and a bowl of chips. Very disappointing meal to say the least. Definitely won’t be returning.
Absolutely atrocious, one of the worst restaurants that I have been to. The service was the worst that I have experienced, even had to take our plates to the bar because no one came to take them away. The food is of very poor quality and would recommend to no one. Never going again.
This is a hidden gem in Spilsby. Had another lovely meal here. We preordered which was handy. Since the new owners took over it's been refurbished and now has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are very good and polite. We've booked for next week. Thoroughly recommended
