Been visiting this village recently for short breaks. Third time this year and has never been here before...moving forward we will visit every time we come. It's a lovely little place with really lovely food||The staff were so kind and friendly. Food was so tasty and fresh tasting. ||Really deserves some praise . I'm not regular review maker but felt I should. As we had a really lovely experience
A real gem of a restaurant hidden away in the beautiful little village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant. The menu is comprehensive but each dish tasted beautifully fresh when it arrived at the table. The meal was eaten in front of a roaring range fire and the service was absolutely top drawer. The perfect evening after seeing the stunning Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.
We recently stayed in the village in one of the castle cottages & ordered a take out from the Indian at the plough & it was lovely ! ||The sauce on the curry (Lamb Passanda & Chicken Korma) was so nice as were the onion bhajis & garlic naan !||The people who owned / worked there were also super friendly and very welcoming - thank you
We stopped here for a last minute meal after finding most of the pubs in our locality weren’t serving food or were closed on Tuesdays. The waiter was friendly, helpful and understanding that our 2 small children needed feeding first and happily arranged a lovely omelette for them. Our food was also lovely, we would definitely return. My only negative comment is the overuse of jos sticks, I counted 5 and had to put 3 out as they were making the children cough. Overall very nice though.
Never has incompetence ever been a more apt description of my experience in this "establishment". To begin with there was no lamb on the menu which as one of the main meats should have raised concerns, I still ordered for takeaway... I then hear other diners complain about a lack of drinks and lack of choice on the menu due to not having what they wanted... roll on 3 hours and a chef comes and tells me he's just given my order to someone else... a competent establishment would never let this happen... upon explaining it to me, my only options were a refund or wait another half hour for my order. So at 8pm I had no food and a difficult decision to make... I raised my grievance about having waited and asked for the food and a refund which I didn't think was unreasonable, due to the time waited and the fact this wasn't my fault... I could only have one or the other, not overly helpful. The so called manager wouldn't let me have both, but also didn't have a backbone and wouldn't come from the kitchen to discuss it after I requested him, this was left with one of the kitchen staff... I opted for a refund as I wasn't prepared to wait any longer for food which they'd only go and give someone else. Shambolic service, shoddy attitude when faced with putting it right and an unpleasant experience. I'd honestly give them a wide berth and opt for a more local establishment who would offer a better service and a more favourable outcome.
As soon as we walked in there was a gorgeous log fire roaring which made it very very cosy, the food was fantastic!!not to be missed and the staff can’t do enough for you, will definitely return .
Went here with friends we had not seen in years. Lovely host, atmosphere, roaring fire & delicious food! Honestly I’m picky & it was amazing & I’d go back if we visit again. Our friends had been before & said it was the best restaurant in the town
My partner and myself came in Friday, firstly I couldn’t order my lamb bhuna as I was you don’t do lamb, what kind of traditional Indian restaurant doesn’t supply lamb, one of the most popular meats in the cuisine. Settled for a chicken korma and found what I believed to be a fingernail but was told it was an almond that had broken off. Wasn’t offered a fresh dish so didn’t finish it. My partner then saw the manager I assume but looked like one of the chefs talking to another couple in a derogatory manner as they too looked like they were having problems with the restaurant that night too, however upon listening and glancing over it looked to what seemed like flakey dandruff all on the shoulders of said manager/chef. As a former chef myself this is unacceptable. Usually good here and enjoy the food but that night was an absolute shambles. We will think again about returning.
