Burgers are good and they have a proper espresso machine for a good pick-me-up coffee. The menu doesn't extend far beyond that. The waiter was great, enthusiastic and really helpful.
Good stop for a quick meal and coffee when travelling a long way.
Efficient serving staff, but all tables need wiping as although no rubbish left crumbs and drink spillages visible from where I was seated. Also some music on to create an atmosphere would improve any visit as the silence was at times deafening. Subs rushed and over sauced, feels like a time warp as it could easily be the 70s in the seating area.
The place is dire! The toilets are filthy and the ceiling is broken and mouldy. There was complete inertia in the waitress who needed a poke to take our order. Service is dreadfully slow. You'd think they would have more people working on a Saturday at the beginning of the school holidays. DO NOT COME HERE. IT IS HORRID!!!
I don’t think Heston Blumenthal ever got as far the A31 in 2013 when forcibly removed from the Little Chef kitchen and decorating duties along with his huge industrial size can of lipstick red paint. Unfortunately I don’t think any other decorators have made it this far either. This one share’s its pitch with Subway and both bits look pretty tired in decor, but really have let themselves go in the toilet department. The Ladies was completely closed and a queue was formed in the lobby to the one single disabled loo, and in the Men’s, one cubicle was shut and above the two urinals cistern there was a hole in the ceiling along some mould Alexander Fleming would be proud of. The unfortunate problem for most people is that IF the public bits are in this state then what are the kitchens like?
Who at either Little Chef or Subway think this is ok?
The Little Chef image and product is now quite dated but still offers food that is uncomplicated and should be consistent across the 70 or so outlets, and the ones I have visited generally all do provide food to a reasonable level (including this one) We had two Olympics along with a omelette breakfast, two pots of tea and a Cappuccino, bits of which turned up cooler than they should be because our server was chatting with one of the Subway staff whilst the food waited to be collected. Our server (a young lady) also seemed to have been schooled by the United Nations food drop disaster service, with everything unceremoniously dropped at one end of the table then distributed (by us) amongst the neediest.
I understand working on a Sunday morning delivering sausages, bacon and egg isn’t really what she probably wants to do, but that is the job that she signed up for and if you hack off enough punters with ‘attitude’, along with this corporate management malaise in investing in the business, people will vote with their feet!
Must try harder
Absolutely awful our party of 10 came in to a look from the manager rolled his eyes and loudly said oh no! Then shouted at his member of staff that she had to stay on as we had just walked in. Then the 'chef' then came over to the waitress to complain to make sure we ordered correctly as she wasn't re cooking anything. This was at 6.30 in the evening they close at 9 on a Saturday evening in the summer holidays!! Made to feel our custom was not wanted discusting avoid at all costs!!
I've been forced into a few bad Little Chef's (nature you know) and felt obliged to buy a snack. This one is the worst!! A simple order of hot drink and a pancake resulted in 3 errors and 50 wasted minutes and it cost more than a penny.
Always been a fan of little chefs, it does feel rather run down but food is good the real win here was kids play area stocked with toys. Exactly what I needed for my lil one at a mid way stop on a long car journey. Will keep it in mind for next time I'm on this road.
Chaos in little chef due to understaffing. Dirty tables ( had to clear our own) and waited ages to even get served so we gave up and went to subway. Toilets dirty and old. Would not recommend.
