If you’re walking the streets of Hay and wondering what smells so good, it’s leaf. Like many others, we stumbled across this cafe and, with a (short) line going out the front, knew it had to be good. We were seated right away and were given a tea experience while waiting for our food. We were talked through the different teas, shown how to brew them, and was given some background on why our teas were being brewed in specific pots. While there are many tea options, they serve one dish each day. We had the delight of trying their potato and chickpea curry.
Came across this place by accident trying to navigate the streets of Hay, and spotted the days food offering listed on the window (in beautiful handwriting I must say!). Had no idea it was a tea place, which I'm sure is also great, but the food was really enjoyable. I liked the simplicity of the single dish (though with a much appreciated gluten free version available too, and also vegan if that's what you need). A good sized portion offered up in a nice cardboard takeaway box, from very friendly and efficient staff in a very cute little setting.
Great option for a take out or eat in, that's simple yet super tasty and also a healthier option! Thank you team LEAF!
We stumbled upon this place after we’d already eaten but it smelled so good we shared the falafel and halloumi plate. The food is incredible, both owners are so lovely and we were given a really in depth explanation of the tea which was the best I’ve ever had!
If you’re even just popping through it’s a fantastic experience and has made our day
Honestly a go to if visiting here. Accidentally stopped off for some lunch and was met with a delicious falafel and halloumi pitta which a variety of amazing, healthy salad and vegetables. Then was recommended the variety of amazing teas with each having their own backstory gave it such an incredible experience. The owners are genuine, kind-hearted people and the depth and knowledge on the methods of brewing tea just took this to the top. If you love trying new experiences and a calming way to enjoy a beverage this is a MUST, only drawback I would say that it was a little cold especially during winter but nothing that a jumper couldn’t fix! Will definitely return!
Such a great experience, the staff was so friendly and welcoming, tea was amazing and refreshing, food was delicious and the atmosphere was calming and serene. Will be coming back!
We seem to have missed the main feature, viz the tea, but we loved the falafel and halloumi dish!! The accompanying condiments and salads were really lovely, each one meticulously prepared and tasty in it's own right. A beautifully composed dish that I highly recommend. We were there for the festival and we're really lucky to have stumbled upon this delicious and affordable option.
Excellent food, freshly made and amazing flavours. Falafel, haloumi and salads. A wide range of teas with incredible service. Thank you for a memorable lunch. Great atmosphere
The best falafel and halloumi I’ve ever had. Crispy halloumi, not over-salty, every forkful was exciting to the tastebuds. Beautiful fresh salad, herbs and hummus and minty sauce. Warmed flat bread. Perfect.
