WOW! What an experience. And NOT a good one. I was there for my sons 2nd Birthday party yesterday, and due to five families cancelling last minute, the anticipated number of kids and adults was not met. This then resulted in us being told we would have to pay for everything we had eaten, and what I had already paid in advance for food was going to be kept. This Was NOT stipulated to me at the beginning if the anticipated number of guests was not met, nor had the manager Ozlem communicated anything she had said to me to the boss, which was different to what he was telling us. When I arrived at 2:45 I informed Ozlem that 5 families had cancelled, adding that meant approximately 15 people would now no longer going to be attending. Long story short, towards the end of the evening Ozlem said she needed to speak to me, and said I had to pay an additional £172, because he boss wasn’t happy and if not then she would lose her job, she was panicking and this meant that instead of me paying £59 on top of what what had already pai (113) I was now paying a to total of £285! Because he boss wasn’t happy that there wasn’t 30 people.
When we communicated that this would not be happening, as we were not told this from the start, and the manager had not communicated with the boss at all concerning what she had told me, he started shouting and screaming in Turkish to Ozlem, he even threw a menu. He was so aggressive it took us all by surprise, Ozlem started crying, and said how she was sorry and embarrassed, and honestly, we felt sorry for the woman. I have NEVER experienced such behaviour from a BOSS in my life!!! It was SHOCKING! And very UNPROFESSIONAL.Especially as it was IN FRONT OF PAYING GUESTS!!! At a 2 year olds Birthday party. This happened towards the back of the restaurant where the fridge and glasses is. He was so aggressive and angry, that my mum actually had to speak to him once he had calmed down, at which point he was behind the counter by the door, where the kebab meat is, and the glass counter where you can see the prepared fresh kebab skewers. The way in which everything was handled was shocking! We paid the £172 in addition to the £113 already paid towards the meat platers, and it was just unfair. That is a lot of money! It was clear that the manager was afraid of her boss, and showing us a bruise on her arm as well as going into detail about her personal life… she literally plead for us to pay otherwise she’d lose her job, and this was all very uncomfortable, unprofessional, sad and concerning to hear.
It’s a shame that I am having to leave such a negative and awful review as the food is good, but THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED! I can’t undo their handling of things, and the whole situation. It WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL!!! The boss really needs to re-evaluate his position and handling of his staff!!! He doesn’t know anything about customer service, and If that’s how he behaves in front of his customers, and treats a manager then God knows what else happens behind closed doors.
Over all it was a massive disappointment and upset to the day. £172 paid on top of £113 is just not acceptable, out of order, and no discretion, compassion or professionalism was shown. Ozlem done a great job making the back of the restaurant look pretty, but I feel sorry for her working under that boss, and the way she is treated. He was awful, and I can’t stress this enough, because it was evident that he e clearly has Anger issues, is controlling; it was very sad to witness and making money is clearly his main focus!
This was not my first time eating at KOZAN hence wanting to have my sons birthday party there, but it was a major let down. Thankfully he is only 2 so had no idea about the amount of drama caused by both the manager and boss. But I will not be eating here again. Very off putting and traumatising to say the least.
Eat here if you wish. But I won’t be.

I've recently ordered some take-away (a lamb shish) in this new Turkish restaurant in Newington Green and it's been very good. The meat was cooked perfectly; juicy, tender and well seasoned. Bulgur, salad and bread were also very fresh and tasty. Really nice service as well, while waiting I've been given a cup of Turkish tea which is a nice addition. Prices are a bit cheaper compared to the nearby competition. The restaurant, despite not to be my style (but this is a personal taste), is extremely clean and tidy. I will definitely go back to try more dishes!
Love, love, loved the experience. The best restaurant I've ever been to where you receive excellent hosting. The staff team were overall on point.
We were a party of 9 people celebrating my son's 18th birthday. Everyone left with full tummies. The food is amazing, taste lovely, great, delicious were some of the comments made as we tucked into our respective dishes. The portion sizes are generous.
A massive thank you to Ozlem, who took time to decorate the area we sat at. Ozlem made the evening special for my son and even went further by surprising him afterwards with a birthday cake. Thank you to all at Kozan Grill.????
Amazing food and lovely service. A great selection of house made mezes, chargrilled meats and fresh breads. Would highly recommend the lamb shish and the Lahmacun. Will definitely be dinning there again!
Probably the best kebab I’ve had in my life. My partner and I came here by accident, as it was new down the road and we’ve been twice since. It’s that good. ????????
Loved this place. My partner and I ate here over the weekend and it was a delicious meal. We both ordered chicken shish and it did not disappoint - it was a huge portion (largest portion of this dish that I’ve had in London). There was a choice of either rice, bulgur or chips. It also came with salad and Turkish bread which was served just before our meals arrived. We were also given complimentary Turkish tea after our meal. Will 100% return and would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Turkish food in London. Great service too :)
Always have the best time when going to Kozan Grill. Great atmosphere, the loveliest staff, yummy food with huge selection for veggies and meet eaters. They know how to spoil is! :)
My goodness, one of the best kebabs in the area! Chicken doner and lamb doner are delicious. I will be back to try everything at least once! The owners are so friendly, Ozlem she is amazing, she so funny and approachable. I love this place.
The atmosphere is warm and accepting of everyone.
The shop is beautiful, clean and so cozy. They also accommodate partys!. I finished the food too quick to take the picture but will deffo post next time I go. Well worth the price and deffo worth another visit!
I highly recommend!
