Best KPortal Reviews
Travelling to beautiful Wales from equally as beautiful Scotland, I decided to stop for breakfast. Boy was I disappointed. Where do I start? No price list for the breakfast items. No jam near the croissants but I was charged for it. It’s things like that which make a reviewer think you only care about the money and not the customer experience. Massive queues which went down very slowly because the staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Youngsters probably paid minimum wage. I’m not having a go at the servers. The problem is poor management and a questionable business model. Trying to get the job done on the cheap. Your staff are equally as important as the food you’re serving. Invest in them. The food was bang average which shocked me. I had heard such good things about this place but was massively disappointed. They even made a TV show about the place, for goodness sake, they had such a reputation! I will be driving on to the next services on my way home which is a shame. The coffee was good. Really good and I do love my coffee. That’s what got you the 1 star. I know that the food in services is expensive, something for which I would love hear a justification, but £11 for that plate?! Come on Tebay get your act together or have you let the attention you got from the TV show go to your head?
The surroundings are picturesque, although the walking paths are short and don’t lead any where ( and the pond is full of algae).
The cooked food in the “kitchen”, is mostly stodge, the only green thing is the peas. (No salads or fresh vegetables, which is what I was expecting at the farm shop).
Tea cups are stained (although probably clean).
Meh,… caters to large groups just like the rest of the service stops.
Stopped for a breakfast and was very disappointed. I wanted to choose some vegetarian options and there is no clear price list. The young staff don't make you aware either.
The food was very limited and cooked badly. The eggs looked awful and the toast was chewy.
One tomatoe, one egg, one toast and some beans with a cup of tea for £14.40 is a total rip off. I realise the services are expensive but the food portions and quality was awful too.
The views are nice. That's about all.
Will never stop here again for food. You should avoid too.
Bought a big breakfast today, just all slopped on a small dinner plate just everything piled on top of everything.
Toast been cooked for ages left under lamps as was eggs and breakfast cakes.
Mushrooms dripping in oil which left a puddle at the bottom of the plate.
Bacon cooked to oblivion and so greasy.
I did speak to a server when i was there but basically got fobbed off politely.
For neary £14 it was one of the worst breakfasts I've had, good quality produce just ruined and not presented any where near as it should be.
Just a quick word to your staff after I slid a bottle of lemonade and a glass off my tray smashing them on the ground. Your staff were on it in movements and made me feel so much better about the mess I’d made. Thank you, I appreciate it.
Good place for a stop on M6.
Who had the bright idea to put the tills where they make the coffee ? It was very quiet when I was there ( 0950 ) one couple in front of me ordered two drinks , the young staff seemed all at sea . By the time I got my black coffee my breakfast was cold . The cold food was excellent, but cold . I wouldn’t bother to eat here if it’s busy .
Had Steak and Ale Pie. Filling has to be the best I've tried ever. However, the pastry was like leather. The chips were overcooked though the gravy was quite pleasant.
