If you want REAL Indian food, this is the place to come to.
The pickle selection with the poppadoms was like nothing I've tasted or had before. One was Apricot, sweet and taste bud burstingly tasty. My colleague ordered the rice flour stuffed with spiced potato. I went for chicken as a starter and a prawn curry as mains. Was a little hotter than I'm used to, but still scoffed nearly all of it because the taste was amazing.
I highly recommend. Staff were also really friendly and took pride in their food.
So they should!

This is my favourite Indian restaurant! I've been going here for years and they keep getting better for each visit. The staff is amazingly friendly and I love the food. They have a separate vegan menu as big as the non-vegan menu. Highly recommended!!!
Update May 2022:
I've come back and again the food was amazing and the pineapple chutney is a taste and texture sensation! My recommendation is instead of ordering coconut rice, try the vellayappam (rice and coconut flat bread).
I live in Chelmsford. Never got such authentic, real taste of South Indian food in my place. Great, original taste. Hygienic and clean place to dine in. They follow proper social distancing and govt. guidelines for covid. Original recipes and spices used. Just loved it. No flaws.
Absolutely love the food and staff here. First authentic Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Southend. Haven’t been back to India in 6 years so whenever we crave masala dosa we always go here. Highly recommend!!!
Very poor quality and quantity of food. Ordered fish biriyani beef dry fry with Porotta.. Biriyani was not good at all.. Taste and quantity.. Served it in a small portion and that too in a plastic bowl. Never seen that before in any restaurant.. Porotta looks dry and bit cold. Beef is served on the top of cut lettuce with a very small portion. Going for the very first time. Personally don't want to visit again. So disappointed.. Not happy at all as a customer. Expected the authentic taste of Kerala cuisine. But totally disappointed.
They want you to leave the table by coming to your table again and again saying sir/ma'am are done or not if you don't have the big order of food. We ordered 4 Indian snacks plus the main but they wanted us to leave the table for white people. Not recommended.
Ended up coming here after learning that the Amina had shut down after many years. The restaurant itself is tired looking but that wasn’t the end of the world most are. Service was pretty slow with the staff standing around at the back on their phones. However, once we did get served the waiter was friendly and chatty. I think the biggest let down was the food though. It was extremely bland didn’t have any real depth of flavour to the point where we left half of it. We’ve tried it but won’t be going back.
Nice food but was forced to buy water because of COVID-19???? I mean what the hell kind of a scam is that !! And pretty sure that illegal too.
Sadly, won't be going back.....
