Absolutely amazing meal! We had curry mutton, lamb curry with sweet potatoes and fried chicken. The flavours were incredible, the meat in both curries was super tender and the fried chicken was falling off the bone. The tomato rice that accompanied the curries was packed full of flavour and the plantain was cooked to perfection. Everything was really good quality and it’s honestly one the best meals I’ve eaten in London. Faye, the owner and chef, is so lovely and welcoming, we felt like we were guests in her home. I can’t wait to come back and try out the rest of the menu!
The food here is amazing. My first time visiting a Guyanese restaurant. Had the fish curry and fish in tomato sauce, the lamb, okra, aubergine, fried chicken, some rice and roti. The food were really flavorful and I would highly recommend it! Amazing!
This was my first time having Guyanese food and what a brilliant introduction. A small restaurant with a homely feel. It felt like dining with family even though it was my first time. They guided us through the menu and gave us some great choices. Whether vegetarian or meat, the dishes were fantastic. Particular shoutout to the oxtail though, that was super flavorful and rich. Accompanied with some lovely sorrel and finished off with delicious black cake. Can't ask for any better
A wonderful at Kaiteur Kitchen. We tried Guyanese food for the first time, under the care of Faye, owner and chef, and also one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. The menu was extensive: fried chicken, barbecue chicken, curry mutton, coconut lamb, and my personal favorite, a crispy fried fish in tomato sauce. The fish had this peppery spicy rub on it, it reminded me of Cajun/creole seasoning that I grew up eating a lot of in North Carolina. The sides were spinach rice, a stir fried spicy okra which we won’t talk about because it was that good, along with fried plantains, roti. Drinks had a special touch too: homemade juices to the tune of a fruit punch and a delicious hibiscus sorrel cinnamon blend. All of it came to £29/head with loads of extra food to takeaway.
I’m seriously hooked on this place. The food is cooked with real LOVE from Faye and her team. And, as they were closing, some ‘Guyanese Oldies’ tunes came on, and everyone was humming in their seats. Good food, good music, good times. That’s what it’s all about!
11/10 food. Brought a few people here and everyone has enjoyed it. Try the fried fish with curry, fried chicken, coconut lamb curry, okra, plantain, pumpkin and aubergine. The pepper sauce is spicy but so damn good.
The lady boss is such a nice lady.
Warm, sweet and very hard working chef and owner. The staff were equally friendly and very helpful. We felt like we’re at aunties house.
We ordered an array of dishes and some of which we’d never tried before, the curry mutton was rich and full of flavour/spices.
The aubergine dish was a nice surprise the coconut milk and nuttiness really came through and pairs well with either rice or roti.
Would of loved more of the fried chicken, next time we intend to try the spinach dish and the pepper pot and curry chicken. Price was very reasonable for the amount we ordered and had plenty to takeaway as well.
???????? ????
Went along with 8 of my friends from work. We had a wonderful evening. Fay welcomed us with some Pholourie Balls with a mango chutney and fish cakes and bakes, that were delicious. They were just our starters. Everyone had different mains and the food was served in good time. A favourite was the Spinach Rice. They’d never had Guyanese food before and they’re fans. Thanks Fay. We’ll be back xx
Simply wanted to echo what everyone else have already said. The most ridiculously delicious food - I have the lamb, spinach and beef rice, and also had the small meatpies. Food with love and comfort and such unbelievably warm hospitality. A true elephant and castle establishment - been there for 16 years prior in the mall that used to be there and the best thing about elephant park.
