What I like about this bakery is how traditional it is. The range of cakes really takes me back to my childhood. Lovely, tasty big cakes. It is a working bakery and the smell of the baked breads and cakes is a wonderful sensation for your nose holes. Their bacon baps are made to order and hit the spot perfectly. It is a nice, proper, family run bakers that is part of the local community.
Just been this morning expecting lovely fresh baked rolls, still hot from the oven, got rolls which were in a plastic bag and when I asked if they were fresh was advised they were and that they had to let them cool before bagging. No way were these freshly baked, tasted more like long life bread. Wish I had just gone to Tesco!
The breakfast was average at best, the member of staff serving was rude, the cutlery too cheap to cut through the sausage and the crispy egg, Never again!
Such a fab little place. Got my lovely lunch for family and some French stick for dinner. Staff very friendly will defo be back.
What a shock! Extortionately priced yeast, £3 for 3 ounces..... told by James that is the price £1 per ounce! (28.35g).
The smallest amount of fresh yeast you can purchase from Hills (larger quantities available) is £2.50 for 150g.
I paid because I needed it - nevertheless it is both saddening and disappointing when so many are working honestly and selflessly to help others. That really is the last time I will visit Whitecross Bakery having been a regular customer for over 20 years.
Got to be the best bakery in town, unbelievable apple flat donut ..again staff are lovely...my only complaint..they shut all day Mondays..lol
They do excellent vegan sausage rolls and Cornish pasties, but breakfast pastries, like croissants, are something I miss.
Delicious cakes and a variety of bread to try , welcoming staff who are friendly and helpful and will deliver on certain days if required .
