Worth a stop to get breakfast, lunch or a snack. Fantastic cafe run by very friendly staff. The menu is varied and delicious, Amazing portion size! Every item on the breakfast was great! Really good food and coffee.
Highly recommend :)
Haven't been here for a year or so but called in for some lunch and ordered a breakfast baguette and a bacon, brie and cranberry baguette. Great service and tasty food. Drinks were hot and served quickly. Friendly staff and very clean.
I met a friend here for coffee and cake today, it was my 1st visit, but my friend had been a couple of times before. Jaks is a lovely clean place in reindeer court, we were served by the owner , what a lovely, genuine guy he was very smiley and chatty and obviously cares about his business a lot and cares that the customer enjoys their time there. The coffee was nice and served in a lovely large white cup, the fruit cake was to die for and I would die for fruit cake lol. The venue is shortly going to start opening in the evening serving tapas and wine, I cannot wait , and hope it's a great success
Ordered & paid before going to table. Plastic menu placemats were sticky & had crumbs on from previous customers. (already ordered & paid by then or would have walked back out).
Service ok but young staff seemed disinterested . Told half hour wait for our fish & chips. OK , don't mind waiting. Hubby asked where the toilets were after a few cuppas and a long wait for the meal....."We've got none, they're out of order" . Had to rush the meal & go across to M&S across the road to use their loos.
Reading a previous review from 3 weeks ago it was mentioned the customer toilets were also out of action then a s well , so obviously just don't want people using them!
Asked for salt & vinegar , told to get it ourselves from the shelf across the room. Salt was in a big plastic shop container with just a pouring lid. So had to pour into hand to sprinkle on.
Hubby enjoyed the small oblong oven fish & chips as they were dry. I found it eatable but disappointed as not the nice juicy fish & chips I'd expected and was only a small portion .
Stopped taking food orders soon after we arrived around 1pm on
a Saturday. Food boards and menus were still outside, lots of people coming in to be told no longer taking food orders.
Tried it once, but wouldn't bother going again.
Great food…really poor staff. I sat in for about an hour and all they were worried about were people coming in because they were due to close (in 2 hours!). They ignored people at the till if making a drink…a polite “I’ll be with you in a minute” with a smile would be better. For a small coffee shop, I’d expect friendlier staff. Smile girls!!
Just popped in to get a Latte and a take away bacon and egg sarnie on nice soft white bread! It was fresh, tasty and done very quickly. Would definitely recommend!
Place looks absolutely amazing, great atmosphere, staff really really friendly! Coffee is lovely. Staff were very helpful and owner was very chatty and funny. Will definitely be coming back!
First time here. Pleasant layout and calm atmosphere. Person who served me (on duty alone, apparently) was superb, calm and kind but also efficient. Absolute credit to the place. A little too cold inside, however, and "upstairs open" on the blackboard outside turned out to mean "upstairs closed unless we get really busy" which was disappointing and not really fair advertising -- I often prefer to go upstairs in coffee shops on cold days as it tends to be warmer! Only had an Americano, but it was very nice and arrived at my table quickly. A good choice if you want an indy that isn't tiny or self-consciously hip, and with just a couple of small tweaks it could be a five-star place.
