Firstly the location and cleanliness of the pub is good. The staff are friendly enough. But they need a bit of guidance from an experienced person working with them. They are all far too young to be able to deal with a bar full of people, as well as food orders. We asked if we could order coffees after dinner, they just said no. Without any explanation as to why.
Now comes the food review……In a nutshell it was all shockingly bad. Olive starter was supposed to be served with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and sour dough. It was a bowl of jar olives with a pitta bread and a pot of garlic mayo. Soup was supposed to be served with sourdough bread. It came with 2 slices of toasted Hovis. Hunters chicken, was half a chicken breast that had been cooked so long it was hard. Very little sauce. Soggy chips and peas like bullets.
Out of 18 starters and 18 mains…only the prawns with chorizo starter was edible. And the Fish and chips mains.
Without drinks the meal cost £23 a head which if the food was edible would have been fantastic…..But it wasn’t!. If it wasn’t for the fact the bar was heaving with a very large group of rowdy men, we would have complained and not paid the whole bill. It just got to the stage we couldn’t wait to get out of there. We will never return for food again.
We know not to expect gourmet food when ordering pub grub. But we meet in Pubs for food on a regular occasion. We have never had such awful food before.
Had brunch on a Saturday morning. Staff seemed very inexperienced. Service was slow. Took over 40 minutes to get the food we ordered. It was good when it finally arrived though. Coffee was far too strong. Bill was wrong when it came, we spotted it and it was quickly rectified. Nice place, just need to give the staff a bit more training .
Very friendly and hospitable place, me and my friends had a catch up (and brought our tiny babies) and the owner was very welcoming and kind. Food was tasty and good quality, great location and pleasant positive atmosphere overall.
Came here for lunch but was quite underwhelmed by the poor service. It seems to me that staff are young and undertrained but at no fault to themselves other than lack of supervision or management. Staff seem more interested in polishing glasses than looking after customers, although nice a friendly, they lack any hospitality skills. Not expecting 5* service but if you are a pub you are serving food then staff should have a bit more urgency with service. On the other hand food was nice and tasty but £16 for scampi, chips and peas is daylight robbery! Also sandwiches should really be served with a choice of chips, crisps or side salad.
Fantastic all round. One of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had. Everything was so flavoured. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Although service was a little slow, but I think they were short staffed.

Advertising board outside states these meals available until 14:00 (2PM), We went in @ 1PM and tried to order, the waitress said they are only available until 11:30, 'now serving lunch' Change the board?? We ordered 2x Calamari after a wsit 2 meagre plates arrived with 8 smalks Calamari rings and dip. Mean portion size @ £6.95. Also, the waitress had no idea what the soup of tge day was!
Received a warm welcome and the 4 of us ordered lunch. The Service and food was excellent. We will certainly return. Thank you. Tim.
