Absolutely lovely B&b with a very friendly and helpful host in Iowen. We arrived a bit late and it was no problem. We were hiking hadrians wall from the west so we are an early dinner at robin hood inn then walked on to iron sign b&b which is right on the trail. Arrived to a warm and friendly welcome.
Comfortable beds and excellent breakfast. Highly recommended.
Thanks Iowen!
Stopped here for a night while walking the Hadrians Wall Trail as it is directly on the route. Owen was a fantastic host and consistently went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Rooms were great, well furnished and comfortable. His full English in the morning was delicious! Can’t thank him enough. Would recommend this B&B for anyone walking the trail.
Just a quick overnighter for us while walking Hadrian’s Wall, but was absolutely charmed by the country hospitality at Iron Sign B&B. Owen was a fantastic host, dropping us to our dinner at The Swan in town, cooking a delicious breakfast and letting my partner feed one of the lambs before we left in the morning. Enjoying the chats we had with Owen about the area and his life - and to be honest would loved to have stayed longer.
After walking the first part of the Hadrian's walk, this was a very welcome rest stop. Fantastic scenery with sheep and baby lambs hopping around the adjoining fields made a great setting for the evening. We had a very warm welcome from the friendly owners and were shown to our very clean and tidy rooms. We all had a very peaceful night sleep in Cody beds and the breakfast was excellent and set us up for the next leg of the walk. Would definitely recommend. 5 stars!
We spent our first night before starting our walk to follow The Wall. Helen and Owen are very relaxed - though they did warn us to keep our dog (black lab) away from their dogs - but no problem as we always had him on a lead and their two alsatians were generally kept behind a gate - interaction didn't seem like a good idea! We had a very comfy and clean downstairs room. Should you bring a dog on the walk the accommodation is well placed for walking around the fields first thing in the morning and the actual Hadrian's Wall Walk literally ran around their farm so they are perfectly placed. We left our car there for the duration and made a contribution to do so. Huge delicious breakfast. All in all a very good start.
We came upon this place as we were hiking Hadrian's Wall Path. It is a bit removed from services, but a quick taxi ride will get you there. They don't serve dinner, but breakfast was delicious. The room was well appointed and had a beautiful view over the pasture. Helen was a great host.
This was our first stop walking Hadrian's Wall Path (East to West) and we were made very welcome. We are vegan and appreciated the efforts that our host went to for us (little touches like making sure that the biscuits in the room are vegan make such a difference) - definitely recommend, even 'though it's a wee bit away from the nearest eatery (we walked which was fine, but taxi numbers were provided).
We loved our stay with Helen and Owen; very welcoming house with beautiful front garden. Wonderful view to wake up to and delicious breakfast before setting out on our journey. Everything was clean and spacious, and Helen and Owen were warm and tended to our needs. Would recommend in a heartbeat!
