Beautiful little pub we visited on a day out. Lady who owned it was very nice and welcoming we had a good chat. Will definitely visit again for sure. Well worth a visit ????
The friendliest pub in Cornwall was greeted with a friendly smile and chat by both pub owners. Had a real sense of community and the pub had great games and compared to all the pubs near by was hugely superior couldn't recommend it more! p.s was so friendly we even got given free cheesy chips :)
Had the feel of a good community pub with really friendly mgmt/staff.
Only a small choice of beer, but what they had was excellent.
Nice beer garden, free to use bouncy castle for the kids.
Don't bother if it looks busy. The menu looked decent and excited to try some Texan style grub, but when two families (8 of us) went to try this out we were let down.
Although the sign says 'family fun, stress free' it was far from this. There was a 10 min wait for the bar and when I got to the front the barman told me the kitchen wasn't taking orders.
According to him they were backed up with tickets and needed time to get through it. I asked him to let me know when they would be ready, but he didn't bother. After 45 mins we decided to order 'Just Eat', and at that moment a pleasant lady asked if we had ordered food. She was the chef and was collecting menus off the tables.
When I told her what we'd been told and she said they never stopped taking orders. I very much doubt this because she started collecting the menus 45mins after we were told how long the wait would be.... convenient. It simply too small to cope with the families it aims to cater for and, if the barman was to be believed, then communication between staff is terrible.
Simply put.....this place is poorly managed and is only good for a pint if you're a local.
Phoned last minute on a Monday night to see if they were serving food. Great service we could have anything off the menu lunch or dinner. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. The food was very nice (Mac and cheese, Fish Pie and Hunters chicken)and reasonably priced. Will add to our list of places to return too.
Unusual place, from the outside its a gorgeous old pub, the inside however is a bit odd, bit like a social club/youth club type setting. The outside area is lovely to sit, but sadly there are rooms you can see into, which are full of furniture, old bits n pieces, which is such a shame, as you can tell its a popular place for holiday makers. The staff are very friendly, and the service excellent.
