You don't go for the sumptuous surroundings , but it's friendly and clean. The pizza and pasta were nice and reasonably priced.
Went here for an evening meal - excellent food, good wine and remarkably cheap prices. Decor is dated and a bit shabby, but the food is clearly where their focus is.
Weirdly the waitress cleared half the table's plates away while we were still eating... Quite rude if it was meant as a hint to hurry up!
Will be going again this evening!
My god what a unprofessional place. 4 of us staying at a nearby hotel decided on this restaurant for dinner, noticed it was nearly empty at 8.30 pm but still the menu in the window looked ok, after entering this cold bright kitchen looking decorated place we was greeted by a waitress that was at first pleasant, I ordered Pizza with tomatoes and the others a pasta dish that they said was discribed by them as plain and basic. My pizza arrived with no tomatoes but rather than create a fuss I decided not to worry about them, to be honest it was ok. Whilst eating I noticed the chef eating while cooking and put me off a bit, anyway waitress returns asked if the food was ok and I mentioned that she had forgotten the tomatoes, she replied " oh you should have told me when I brought it out I did put it on the order pad but chef forgot but you won't get charged for the tomatoes" this was said with attitude, anyway, I noticed on the menu there was a service charge included on all meals and stated that this could be removed on request, at the till I requested this to be removed and was pretty much shouted at. The response I got from the waitress and I quote " are you serious? Chef he wants the service charge removed," then turned to me and said " why are you asking for this to be removed its me that will suffer from this have you never been to a restaurant before" I explained that I would be happy to tip for good food and good service but unfortunately this was not up to most people's expectations and so that was the reason, she mumbled on being very rude as we left. Later that evening both my friends that had the same dish went down with stomach problems. This place you would be advised to avoid for many reasons stated.
Horrific. Used to work upstairs from here and go 2 or 3 times / month. It was awesome. What a difference 7 years make. It's now awful.
Manager & Chef openly arguing in front of everyone. It feels dirty, tables bare/undressed, service is poor. I ordered a beer, took 15 mins, when it arrived they decided to pour it into a glass, he was halfway through when he realised the glass wasn't clean. I watched him take it around the back of the counter, wipe the half full glass with a napkin then bring it back to me.
The food was ok, nothing great. Sad to see it in such a state.
Fantastic pizza freshly made. Just the perfect size. Best Pizza I've had! Very friendly and helpful staff. If you are staying in a hotel nearby like I was then you should definitely pay a visit.
I used to work a few doors away so you could say that I'm biased, but this place truly offers excellent food. I don't work there anymore since my office closed down but I carry on going there regularly as, luckily it's not too far from home.
If you ignore the fact that the restaurant isn't cosy, could do with a coat of paint (or two) and some new light bulbs, then you will enjoy your Italian food.
The service is always excellent and quick, unless they are busy but the same goes for any restaurant. The chefs will also acknowledge you and say thank you when you leave. You can ask for some chilli sauce if you feel your pizza/pasta needs a bit of pepping up but be careful as the sauce is very very hot!
All in all, a great place to know.
ps. Sovereign Foods & Wine (next door) belongs to the same people and you can get a great sandwich (put together in front of you with your chosen ingredients) from the deli bar at the back of the shop if you go there at lunch time.
I have just left il Basilico following a full day conference at Park Inn at Radissin Heathrow.
I found the staff to be amazingly attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
The food was spectacular, clean plates all round.
Prices were very reasonable too.
Don't go on appearances though as it's a weird looking place but if you are wanting really good, reasonably priced Italian food, in a friendly, attentive place this is the restaurant for you!!
We were staying at the Park Inn due to a delayed flight so quite grumpy! We walked around the corner to this fabulous neighbourhood restaurant. Freshly cooked fantastic food, adapted to our taste and great prompt, efficient service. All for a reasonable price.
