Waited for food to be cooked. Was hoping that was a good sign but turned out it wasn’t. Fish had no flavour, battered sausage was more batter than sausage. Had a portion of chips to which you can see there were lots of in edible chips. Very disappointing Meal.
When I first walked into the shop it had a really odd smell to it, almost like bad oil . I didn’t let this put me off and carried on with my order. The chips had an awful taste and even worse after taste . They didn’t seem like fresh chips to me that you would normally get from a chippy. In fact, I can still taste them now. I’ve never ordered from a chip shop before and had to throw them away immediately after buying. Avoid this place unless you like dirty oiled food.
Drive past this place every week thought I'd give it a go, soggy half cooked chips, that were cold by the time I drove 5 mins up the road (Maldon)..... The curry sauce saved the day, I won't be back.
Fantastic service and very nice fish and chips. Just stopped over on my way back to London and I am very touched by the service I received from the 2 ladies in the restaurant. I have promised myself to drive to the restaurant again one weekend just to eat.

All the food tasted abit weird. And I put It down to the fact that fryers may have had dirty oil. I could smell it when I came in, but put it down to bad ventilation. But when I got the food and tasted it, I could taste the bad smell on the food. The battered sausage had too much batter on it, the curry sauce had a weird after taste, the cod was ok, but no flavour in the batter, the best thing about it was the savaloy. I'm sorry I don't usually like to complain, but on this occasion I felt I had to. In the hope that a few little changes could improve the quality of the food. As a former chef I know bad oil when I smell it and when I taste it.
Absolutely lovely fish and chips, fish was big and thick with just the right amount of batter, chips also nice and fresh and crispy, all cooked while I waited. I will definitely not be getting my fish and chips from anywhere else in future.
Great food fast service friendly place
£6.50 for a savaloy and chips. Won't be back here anytime soon.
