Have always had good food since it became a Happy Garden. Service is very fast and staff is always pleasant. Special mention to Beef ginger and spring onion, Lemon Chicken, Duck and pineapple, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Both steamed and egg fried rice are also good, and if you want a little different, their chips are also good
I think the worst thing about this place is that now and again, the food is actually great. So you go back, remembering that one time a month or two ago when the food was good. But it's not really worth the gamble anymore and we've finally decided to just give up, and travel further afield for a decent Chinese takeaway.
The crispy duck rarely has any crispy bits - instead, it consists mostly of fat. The chow mein is always good so I will give them that, but the egg fried rice makes you question how it's even possible to mess something like that up.
In summary, it might be worth a shot. It might be nice. But the chances are it'll make you feel queasy afterwards because of all the grease and fat
We orderd tonight cost £113 used to be nice the food was vile and we ordered beef curry chicken curry beef chop suey chicken balls prawn balls rice chow mein. The ribs were dry as a nuns #### etc so all different it was all nasty ???? tasted like mouldy vegetables nasty beef honestly it's actually put me off completely and I love Chinese usually. It has to be the worse experience of a Chinese I've ever had. If you don't want disappointment don't go here it really has gone down hill.
I went in this evening as I have done many times on this occasion I forgot my number, I apologized as soon as I went in, only for the owner to then appear from the kitchen to yell at me for forgetting my number! Rude!!!!
Moved to the area a few months back, and trying all the local takeaways.
Walked in, greeted by super friendly lady, who made a couple of suggestions for things to go with what I fancied.
Food was all cooked fresh in about 10 mins, and was fresh and tasty, not quite as spicy as I was used to in London, but better than any of the others we have tried locally.
Our fave Chinese in Crediton High Street.
Normally a good service but seems to be going down hill. Ordered my food and didn’t get two items that I had asked for. I called to ask what had happened and they tried to say that I hadn’t ordered it. Not happy with the comments or service so won’t use anymore.
This evening was the first time that have bought some food from On Bong for years. My friends warned me that they have been over charged and there are many reviews saying the same thing I thought I would see for myself. The food was good however like many others I was overcharged. It should have totalled to £44.80 but I was charged £49.80. This is quite an over charge and I will not be going back again. Make sure you check the total before you pay.
Good food but the worst customer service you'll ever find, to the point where a trip to the On Bong is worth it just for the entertainment. Managed to avoid being on the wrong side of the lady for a long time until recently when I dared suggest that the phrase 'includes boiled rice' meant that I should get rice with my curry. She blew her stack, yelled at me for five minutes and kicked me out (with no rice).
I'll probably go back.
