I was delighted to find that I had been accepted for a kitchen assistant/van driver role at the great hampers it has had an amazing reputation in bury for its yummy sandwich's for years. I’ve worked in hospitality for 3-4 years previously and really enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly environment. Of course working under pressure sometimes also. It’s a shame my experience with hampers wasn’t as positive. When I first started I expected to be shown the ropes and shown there way of working everything I was shown I took on board and tried to follow Elio’s lead and felt ok. But as time went on I felt that I was nit picked over everything that I did I expected that as the new girl this would pass after a few weeks. I literally could not move without Elio’s beedy eyes on me and judging every move I made it was very uncomfortable for me and I felt a massive amount of pressure. The last straw was being asked to make a latte, bearing in mind that I’d made coffees on the barista machine for years at a previous work place. But of course I was doing it wrong! And Elio proceeded to turn up the heat on the steam and the milk got very hot very fast and started to bubble and spilt over. Resulting in it going all over the floor. This made me feel so uncomfortable and pressured I was quite flustered ????
Upon my return to the kitchen I was given no kind words of are u ok or do you want to take a breather? Instead I was asked why the milk bubbled over and then told that it was rubbish that I’d been taught to boil the milk slowly to stop the milk burning and that Elio’s 40 years of experience was superior to how I’d been taught. When I explained how I’d been taught in a calm manor I was told not to argue like a child. I explained that was how I was taught there was no argument. I was clearly distressed and on the verge of tears. I walked out at that moment and broke down in my car. I think it’s safe to say that I did not return. The thing that got to me the most was that I had no contact from them to ask if I was ok or check in on me I simply received my payslip and p45 the next day via email. By far this has been my worst experience in any of my work environments. I thought that HR are supposed to create a safe and fair work space for all employees and consider the mental health effects of how staff are treated. The owner of shop needs to really take on board that his way isn’t the only way.
Excellent staff, very clean and tidy, food is really good, homemade scotch egss and sausage rolls highly recommend for lunch

Had a load of sandwiches made for a work do this weekend and hampers did not disappoint! Overflowing sandwich’s, tasted very yummy, plates and all sorts added too! Which was really thoughtful. I would thoroughly recommend! Thank you very much x
I had the toasted tuna, cheese and onion panini for lunch, an apple and an oat latte. The ingredients were fresh, good portions and all delicious. I paid 8.20 which I thought it was a fair and a reasonable price. Also the ladies serving are very nice and courteous. The space is not very big but has enough space as most people tend to order take way (also has 2 tables outside which I got to enjoy in a lovely sunshiny day) . It was the first time I came here, but I would definitely recommend and I would come back! Thank you!

What an absolute little gem of a sandwich shop!
Had a few baps and rolls from here now and the food is always superb and deli fresh.
Even tried the cakes today and much to our surprise were fantastic!
Makes for a nice little treat when working from home.
