A little dark inside but there is outside seating and DOG FRIENDLY! perfect for after work drinks!
This is a truly amazing pub which serves its community well, but also welcomes visitors. The food in particular the weekly carvery which takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays I defy any other establishment to beat £5.95 with a choice of three meats and all the veg freshly cooked (the roast potatoes are truly amazing) you can eat, Sundays pensioners get the same meal for £4.00||||The pub serves good selcetion of ales and the house wine is excellent with friendly service the whole time. This pub truly deserves a visit, you will not be disapointed, oh and just as an added bonus Friday is steak night again with all the trimmings for £5.95.
Lovely pub, gorgeous food with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Held a few events here which have always been amazing. Garden is beautiful and newly refurbished rooms. I absolutely love this pub and even though I rarely go out I am always welcomed back with a smile.
Very friendly staff. Dog-friendly: dogs allowed in all areas. Good food (we had a sandwich and “dirty fries”), reasonably priced. Good beer too. Understandably popular, even midweek. Some parking available.
I've been here on a Wednesday and noted the carvery is a good value meal. But there is no other choice, and no food offered on other days. If you want the carvery and come on a Wednesday then you'll like the place (and there were a number of pensioners on my Wednesday visit), but if you want something else, or you come on any other day, then the pub offers little other than shelter from the weather.
Went to the Griffin Pub in Shirley Southampton for Christmas Day lunch. Unfortunately the vegetables were over cooked, the beef was sliced
in some sort of liquid. The gammon and turkey were nice as were the roast potatoes. The service was bad they had a twelve year old child serving at
the tables which was inappropriate. He left our plates on the table for such a long time, after we finished eating. I asked for a drink and had to ask a second time. Would not recommend to go there. Apparently the Bar Manager is angry at my opinion. We need to be adults about this and accept constructive criticism. Service as well as food quality will not improve if when you are unhappy nobody says anything.
Moved in up the road 5 months ago and I've gone here about 5-6 times. Sunday roast is also very good but they fill up fast so best to get there early. We had only gone once with the wife and kids but food was really good and at a reasonable price.
Terrible, dirty awful shower. Was meant to be staying all week but after the first night we packed up in the morning, with a bit of work these rooms could probably alright but as they are now they shouldn't be let out, as a contractor I've stayed in some dumps over the years but we do have some standards and being able to have a half decent shower after work is one of them
