Fantastic lodge! Booked through hoseasons for an absolute bargain. We were worried based on other reviews but the lodge was clean and tidy with everything we needed. Highly recommend to anyone booking a girls weekend like we did! Will definitely be returning to Great Hatfield Lodges
Pros: Lovely lodge with all the mod cons. Very spacious, even the bedrooms. Kitchen was practically new with enough pans, crockery etc. The beds were very comfy, clean white linen and plenty of pillows. 1 x towel each provided. Hot tub was hot on arrival which was lovely. Plenty of parking. Countryside location which was overall lovely and peaceful. Short drive to freeport and country pubs. Overall a lovely place.
Cons: Sofa extremely worn, low & uncomfortable to sit on (but bar stools and dining table are available). Shower cubicles had some black mould/limescale build up. The bathroom mirrors are tiny and placed very high. I had to stand on my tip toes! The guests in the opposite cottage were partying hard well into the night with loud music and laughter. I felt a bit sorry for the family in the lodge next to them....but it didn't affect us too much.
Overall a lovely stay and a very competitive price. I would definitely return.
Firstly, we were greeted by staff who told us where the keys were etc. we then entered the lodge and were shocked at how nice it was, perfect temperature and everything was so clean! we didn’t expect so many rooms! two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen with all appliances there for if you need them, plenty of different glasses, microwave, dishwasher, oven, hob. the hot tub was a nice temperature which maxed out at 41.5 degrees which you could adjust with ease. the hot tub was situated pretty private which allowed for us to feel comfortable when relaxing. the bathrooms were spotless and the shower was easy to use. the utility room was also packed with things like an iron and ironing boards, washing machine etc. this is the best lodge we have been to and would recommend it to anyone who is looking at going. couldn’t wish for anything else!
if possible, instead of the tv in the room, put a smart tv so people can relax in bed and watch netflix and other things!
5/5 for everything, will definitely be back
Currently staying here in the oak lodge. The lodge itself is lovely, modern appliances and even has fast speed wifi, lots of pots pans etc and other niceties like DVDs etc. cold outside but lovely and warm inside the heating is really good and it's all nice and clean. Pet friendly as long as you don't let them in the bedrooms, overall really nice and would definitely stay here again.
Stayed in Oak Lodge. A total disaster. Nobody on site to geet us although we arrived on time. Lodge cold so had to work out how to work heating. Terrible smell in kitchen/living area. Found it came from dishwasher so had to run it empty a couple of times before smell went. No welcome pack. Settees worn out and gaps between cushions full of rubbish and sweets. Obviously never been cleaned for some time. 4 TV's in lodge but 3 in bedrooms did not work. Other one worked but could only just hear it even at full volume so had to use subtitles all week. Messaged owner on Saturday, Sunday and Monday when the owner's girlfriend came and tried to repair it but without success. She said she would phone the owner to see what he wanted to do. The following day I contacted Hoseasons who contacted the owner who said he thought the fault had been sorted. When they mentioned compensation to him, he went very quiet and they were unable to contact him again! The utility room had a disgusting smell which they had attempted to disguise with an air freshener. The double bed was very low. Bedding and towels were very poor quality. All mirrors were set up for someone 6ft tall and my wife could not use any of them. Back to the kitchen. The freezer was full of bags of ice cubes. We found out on Monday that they belonged to one of the cleaners and she was using the Lodge to store them! Most of the crockery was grubby. Glassware was an odd assortment of different sizes and shapes. There were 3 wine glasses in a Lodge for 6 people. The pots and pans were disgusting. Oven trays and frying pans in the drawer under the oven had obviously not been washed for weeks and were dirty and sticky. Large microwave was broken and had been replaced by a tiny one. There was a 2 slice toaster. Not good for a lodge for 6 people. Window ledges were sticky and had not been washed. |Outside, the hot tub smelled very strongly of chemicals so we did not use it. Nobody came during the week to check it. Tub should have had water tested every day, dirt removed and filter emptied. When we returned home I sent a recorded delivery letter to the owner stating my complaints and suggesting a refund of some of my payment might be in order. I am still waiting for a reply. Unless this property receives a total deep clean and all appliances are repaired, I would not advise anyone to book this lodge
The lodge was really lovely and quiet. Not too far to drive to Bridlington and tesco was about a 7 min drive away. The lodge was tidy. Great little base. Had everything we needed. It was just the little things that let it down. Like the remotes needed batteries, the WiFi password wasn't anywhere to be found had to ring the owner for it. The washing machine was smelly and a very loud humming noise from the freezer. Apart from that it was lovely. Great value for money. The hot tub was nice, too
Just arrived back having stayed 4 nights in ash cottage..||||||On arrival was met by owner who greeted us and informed us of relevant information and with a warm smile..was not interfering in the slightest but ensured we knew how to contact him..||||Cottage was clean and well equipped with lovely comfy beds. Far bigger inside than it looks..yes there were quite a few flies...but...you are in the middle of the countryside and most of the time we had the door open.||||Huuuuge enclosed garden which was great for our dogs to run about in. ||||Hot tub was up to temp and lovely modern tun with Bluetooth.||||Although there are other lodges we were never disturbed.||||The dark sky at night was truly breathtaking and being able to watch from the comfort of bed was an added bonus. ||||Very close to tesco/shops/beaches and putlet village all a short drive away. ||||Honestly had a fantastic time and would hope to return.. ||||Only a couple of wee issues (not complaints just suggestions)||1. Hot tub didn't appear to be getting chemicals added daily.. by day 4 it was quite dirty..being a hot tub owner I know how often levels require to be checked..we never contacted the owner as it really wasn't a massive deal for us hence why not complaining. ||||2. Living room.could be doing with another lamp. One was 2 dark and we didn't feel cozy with ceiling lights on..||||3. Bedding seems to be getting a little tired(definitely not a major issue) but maybe just a wee suggestion to upgrade ||||4. No pizza cutter (again not a complaint but just a wee suggestion).||||All in all a fantastic stay, thankyou to our wonderful hosts.
We stayed here for all of 4 hours. The electric went, which yes is not fault of the owner of the property, and we had to return home at 9pm. What followed was nothing short of poor customer service from the owner of this property. He offered us 50% off to be able to return, when we asked for more information about this, we received no response. He then did not respond to Hoseasons when they reached out about our complaint which meant it took even longer for us to receive a refund. 1 month later we have finally got our money back which doesn’t compensate the stress caused for us and the children. I would avoid this property simply down to the terrible customer service when our holiday got cut very short due to no fault of our own.
