Just to inform that there is no lift or escalator straight down to the platform at Gloucester Road station for one with luggage. My hotel was the Millenium Hotel next door to Gloucester Road tube station so I took the underground which travels directly to Heathrow Airport as it was more convenient than taking a taxi which would have taken ages due to heavy morning traffic. I had to lift a heavy case down a long flight of stairs to reach the main platform.
Traveling between the District Line to the Piccadilly, a rail enthusiast, have an appreciation for architecture, an appreciation of art... If you are even slightly one of the above then you will love this station.
Outside and in it is amazing, from the staircases to the ceiling.
This station has good upkeep too. The condition of this busy station is probably helped with the disused platform used for art installations that change fairly regularly and there is often signage explaining the art.
This station feels like you are stepping back in time when the tube still has first class services, and the excitement of the new fangled technologies that have made London Underground.
A lovely station on the Circle and Districts Lines. I have always found the staff helpful and station kept clean. I used to go to Imperial College and would use this station rather than South Kensington. This one is just more civilised. At the moment, there is an exhibition of art by Lettie Eggsyrub. It livens the place up (smile).
Recommandable! We had a 7 days Travelcard standard class Zone 123. We came in from London City Airport and have seen all very interesting spots in the city and around the city.
Nice underground station very busy with lots of passengers using this station. The circle District & Piccadilly lines all stop here. There is lifts from the ticket hall to the Piccadilly line platforms. Then there is stairs.
Long gap between the trains for Ealing Broadway.
I had a terribly bad experience going through this station, it was an ordeal.
I came out of this station as I was in the area visiting a friend.
I needed simple directions so I decided to ask a member of staff. There was a young man probably in his twenties assisting others with their journeys etc. I patiently waited whilst he tended to others. When my time came and I approached him, he started avoiding me, looking for other customers to help instead. Eventually, it became a cat and mouse scenario where I had to chase him to get his attention, literally no understatement. I finally caught up to him but before I could finish my sentence he cut me off. What proceeded afterwards is anyone’s guess. This member of staff, a black man, (light-skinned) became hostile, contemptuous and offensive towards me. He refused to help me, telling me to “go away or buzz off” as he put it. I repeatedly asked him what his issue was with me but he would not declare it. In short he just didn’t like the look of me and so he thought he would try to degrade me instead. We got into a heated argument. He made me very angry as at this point, we were scaling around the entire station arguing over his terrible customer service. Other people were looking on in shock as this man was verbally abusing me. Eventually I noticed another member staff and i vented my frustrations out and asked to speak to a manager to make a complaint. I received a nonchalant response and was told to leave it and forget about it. So let me get this straight, I needed help with information from a member of staff, I see said member of staff and begin to approach them with my query, said staff member then treats me like an animal, verbally abusing me, in front of others and refuses to help me altogether and I should just leave it and go about my business???? Hell no!! In the end, after twenty five minutes of arguing, my friend called me to ask me where I was, I began to tell her the situation and she told me to leave immediately, giving me directions to her place. This treatment is unacceptable. It’s deplorable, disgusting and sad. This man is not fit to be a member of TFL. This man is the complete opposite of a professional l. I was mortified. He angered and upset me and the only thing I can do is to leave a review on here. I was humiliated. I hope he’s happy with himself.
Last Friday Morning, on the 2nd August 2019 my friend rushed into that station. The train was delayed she was ill advised on two separate occasions. The two men on the platform laughed about her when she said that she was due to have surgery at 12 o' clock - which can be substantiated with documentation. They kept sending her upstairs and driving her up the wall. Eventually, a grey haired man assisted her out of the main gates and he confirmed that the two men standing on the platform by the trains downstairs had ill advised her. Should she not have left the station in time for her surgery - the hospital would've postponed it. I will be writing a report on her behalf as I feel that toxic individuals is not fit to guide anyone and shouldn't be working in that station. I'm delighted she got a British Taxi driver who drove her directly to the doors of the hospital. Under no uncertain terms should the two members employed at the station remain there as they are polluting the environment. The lady was in serious distress. They had failed to communicate honest, accurate information about the platform she should be on. I am willing to cc my letter to the Minister in hope that no one will be treated the way she was.
