What a fantastic little garage with really helpful and friendly staff. Unfortunately whilst visiting Richmond today with my aged mother, my car battery went kaput! After explaining my predicament they offered to start my car using a jump pack (for nothing). Regrettably my cars battery was completely broken. They kindly looked after us both until a new battery was delivered and fitted. I was really impressed how kind and helpful they were. A truly first class service from a first class company!

Found this place by sheer chance. Took my Freelander in with a noise coming from the lower end. After speaking to Ian he agreed to take a look there and then, even though they were very very busy. He quickly diagnosed the problem and said he could maybe get it sorted the same day if the parts were available. This was done and the car was ready within a few hours. What a great service and really very friendly guys who work there. Many thanks for your rapid response. Very highly recommended.

Generally when a garage bloke seems friendly, and sounds like he knows what he's doing, I have a panic attack: I just KNOW he is about to rip me off. Gallowgate Motors is the exception that proves the rule: the reason they appear friendly and sound like they know what they're doing is, they ARE friendly, and they DO know what they're doing.
If you thought this kind of thing had been totally done away with in the 21st Century, then think again: there is at least one proper garage still left, and its name is GALLOWGATE MOTORS.
With all due respect to Beamish Museum, Gallowgate Motors is actually the best timewarp experience in the North. My car was made in 2006, but they still treat me & it like the year was 1956. Even if they were expensive (which they are not), I'd love their style.
