Traditional portuguese restaurant with a lot of traditional portuguese food, including meat, fish and other seafood. Tasty starters as well and desserts.
The service in there is quite fast and they try to pay attention to everyone.
Very affordable prices for the food quality.
Heard from a local that there is a substantial Portuguese population in the area, so went looking for a good restaurant. from the outside this place looks a little uninviting, bit like a dilapidated '70s pub. on entering, it's a little run down décor wise. however, the few tables that were occupied at 2pm on Thursday, were regulars who welcomed us. we tried to order the cataplana but not on that day, so went for a meat mixed grill and a fish mixed grill with a couple of glasses of house red. i think next time we need to take a lot more people! meat was 2 x flank steak, 2 x pork chop, 4 x bacon, 2 x chicken fillet and some chorizo. Fish was fried / grilled, 2 x salmon fillets, 2 x sea bream, half doz large prawns, 2 x sea bass plus 2 x another (sorry i forgot) all served with rice, new potatoes, chips and salad. optional piri-piri sauce (not for the fainthearted :-))
wine was really nice, coffee also. starters of fresh bread, olives and fish pate (in those little plastic pots). really felt like a local café somewhere in Portugal. The waitress was kind, helpful and friendly and the chef came out to ask if all was well. few more locals came in and all said hello and some had a chat. it's a Portuguese version of a British greasy spoon, but like some greasy spoons, it does what it says on the tin and does it really well. highly recommended, just take lots of friends and an empty belly :-)
