Best KPortal Reviews
Just come back from here with my 12 year old son. What can I say. It is a fantastic campsite. Staff are amazing and will go out there way to do what they can for you. Don't bother reading the negative reviews (they are probably from campers that want 5 star) it's back to basic camping and if you love that this is definitely the place for you. Will be returning very soon. Ideal location for hiking/walking/watersports at a cheap price. Facilities were spotless. Highly recommend 10/10 for me and my son ????????????????????????????????
Liked: Great scenery,
Friendly hosts,
Dog friendly,
Felt very relaxed stay here,
Loads of space,
Dog friendly.
4G (vodaphone)
Disliked: No doors on toilets
Liked: The site was in a lovely spot. It was obviously busy as it was august BH - the owners did their best to stay on top of the facilities and keep it all running, changing the portaloos etc. Although there were a fair amount of people there was a lot of space, were well spread out and we didn't feel on top of other campers.
The showers were hot and clean. It was surprisingly quiet late evening/over night, even although there were some multi family groups and other groups. The chalets looked nice and are in a good position, and look like a good option if you don't fancy camping.
Disliked: This site could be easily and vastly improved by having a proper toilet/shower block. It has a trailer with showers (which have to be filled manually as opposed to having water piped in) have no lights (fine with a head torch) and a small portable toilet block (3 toilets for the ladies, 2 urinals and one toilet for the men) which was somewhat limited for the number of people on the site (one sink in each half of the toilets). there were other portaloos dotted around the site however. The washing up area consisted of one sink with cold water which just drained into the ground
August BH is always the busiest weekend for camping and the majority of campsites are totally full or over subscribed so one has to expect greater demand on facilities. The owners worked hard to keep it all going but their lives would also be made easier with a proper block and it would provide a better experience for those staying. Overall it was ok, I have had far worse camping experiences, it was quiet and we had a good amount of space and I was grateful to be able to book as I'd left it quite late.
Liked: Beautiful secluded site with riverside pitch.
Lovely walks
Dog friendly
Handy portaloos in field
Clean, well maintained shower block.
Handy for town and coast but still isolated enough for total peace and quiet.
The statics and chalets were well separated from the touring pitches. (That's a foible of mine... )
I also thoroughly appreciated that I wasn't bothered by the owners fussing about! Another foible, I go camping for quiet and solitude!
Disliked: Nowt!
Liked: The campsite was easy to find with sat nav, straight to reception. The campsite was quiet at night time. Had hot showers and toilets available, including portaloos around the campsite. Basic campsite, however, this is what we wanted, back to basics and proper camping. Pitch size is big and gave us the opportunity to have personal space and enough space to have the car, tent and accessories all together to make it comfortable. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Close enough to walk to a shop, starbucks and slightly further, a lovely village with pubs, shops and restaurants (even a take away & barbers). Was only £10 for a fire pit, 2 bags of wood and fire starters. Overall, great campsite for traditional camping.
Disliked: Although toilets and portaloos available, a couple of portaloos were blocked and unable to use.
Liked: The field is excellent, well kept, flat and lovely scenery all around you. There were plenty of showers that are free to use and kept clean. It was easy to check in. A good basic site that’s quiet and spacious.
Disliked: We knew this before we booked so it’s not a criticism, however hot water would be beneficial for washing up. The portaloos on the field are a great idea, however there was no chemicals in the one near where we pitched which then caused it to smell, especially in the hot weather. There are 2 toilets at the back of the field which were nice but there was no running water to wash your hands or flush the toilet. There is however toilets near the showers so we were able to use these. I do think sinks with hot water would be a good idea for people to use to have a wash and brush their teeth.
Liked: Spacious pitch with proper flushing toilets in a lovely surrounding. We went with two other couples and were able to pitch together with a gazebo in a village setting. Great to be able to have a fire at night with which wood can be bought and a pit can be borrowed from the office at as the weather was a bit damp and cold. Electric hook up a bonus too.
Friendly staff. Easy base to explore other towns around or just chill out. Plenty of space for kids to play etc.
Disliked: First night electric kept going off but as soon as we reported it the next day staff sorted it very quickly.
Liked: Beautiful scenery location was perfect for visiting nearby towns and beaches clean site hot showers Good pitch sizes and electric ground somewhat uneven but to be expected in a field
Disliked: Could maybe use more toilets as was ok when we were there but site was nowhere near full.
Grass would have been better not as long
