Wow..... what an experience! A colleague and I heard whispers that a boujee cafe nearby had just had a revamp, so decided to see what all the fuss was about ourselves.
As soon as we walked through the door, we were instantly greeted by a warm smile as we were escorted to our seats. As we gandered over the menu, we were struck by some overwhelming prices. However, as you can see by the picture provided, this is justified by the monstrous amount of food in each serving.
I opted for the 'club', and must admit, I was swept off my feet. A bed of crunchy sourdough gets mounted by fresh avocado, succulent salad, some beautifully crisp bacon, topped of with some chicken covered in sesame seeds. A perfectly cooked boiled egg gets halved and placed at either end of the bread, then it's finished with their spicy mayo, which tied the entire dish together flawlessly. My colleague was almost in tears by the end of his.
All in all, I had a great experience in a stunning establishment which oozes class, and will definitely be returning.

One of the best full English breakfasts I’ve had. Very nice presentation, with bright orange egg. Everything on the plate was delicious, the tomato perfectly cooked. If I’m being picky I would have preferred more charring on the bacon and sausage but they were delicious anyway. I also would have liked black pudding but not sure if it’s on the menu. The butter and toast were very good as well. Nice outdoor seating and friendly service.
Fantastic place to have breakfast. The atmosphere is posh and elegant, and the healthy breakfast options are a definite plus.
As a vegetarian, I appreciate that they offer a good number of dishes suitable for those following a plant-based diet. The friendly and helpful staff also made my experience even more enjoyable. It's always great to be welcomed with a warm smile and helpful service.
Overall, I would highly recommend Fred & Dougs to anyone looking for a delicious and healthy breakfast in a sophisticated setting. The ambiance is comfortable, and the decor is tasteful, making for an enjoyable dining experience.
We had a great breakfast at F&D this morning. It’s looking fresh after the refurb. The coffee is second to none and I would highly recommend The Saf to eat - delicious as ever!!
Had a great breakfast here with some pals. Seems to be a good haunt for mums in the area. I had a decaf mocha and the granola, both tasted amazing. If I had to complain, I did have to ask for my coffee, but the team made up for it in taste.
5/5 food quality, presentation and taste. First time in Essex but will be coming back specifically for it!
Brilliant little cafe with lovely staff, incredible food and lovely drinks. Chicken club open sandwich was probably one of the nicest I've ever had, along with some really nice freshly squeezed orange juice and an incredibly smooth latte.
Food here is always delicious, with great choices whether you're a meat eater, vegetarian, or vegan. The coffee tastes divine as well as the fresh orange juice, and I would highly recommend you visit, I can guarantee you'll want to go back.
