The food was absolutely delicious. One of the best experiences I had in Edinburg, We were in the hotel for the night and decided to try the restaurant. I had the “Pan roasted sea bass with mango salsa, amazing! The fish was super fresh and well seasoned. For desert I had the triple chocolate with whisky, also delicious. The price was really good especially due to the quality of the food.
The food and atmosphere here was great. Service was and good and all staff were friendly and gave good recommendations. Would have gotten 5 stars as the food tasted amazing, but the portion sizes were rather small. We were shocked to find the £13 scallop starter dish only came with 2 scallops.
The food is mind blowing. They are always fully booked, so make a reservation. If there is a clear day in Skye, the view is amazing Very good value for your money. Staff is super friendly. Sometimes service is a bit slow, but nothing out of the ordinary of a busy family run restaurant. But if you are an impatient person, it might not be the right place for you. I can just say that even if you have to wait a little bit for your food, it is 100% worth it. Kudos to the chef!!!
Pretty good food and great atmosphere. The service was all-around solid...until the end. They disappeared for quite a while and i eventually had to flag someone down to get the bill. Not a huge deal, just something to work on. On the other hand, they did a great job of keeping our ice water replenished, which was much appreciated after a warm walk from the Marmalade hotel.
The filet really wasn't cooked that well. It was pretty dry and not near the medium rare i ordered. Still totally edible and enjoyable, but not at the level it should be.
I'd definitely dine here again.
My Wife and I were staying at the Bracken Hide for our Honeymoon and after a very disappointing meal down in Portree we decided to make a reservation here, and oh wow were we in for a treat, when we go out we rarely risk having 3 courses as you never know if the dishes will get better, but here at Frasers the food just got better and better.
Having a view of the pass and into the kitchen gave a real insight into how quickly the chefs worked and communicated but also at how freshly prepared your food was. We returned again before heading home and tried 5 new dishes between us, and quite remarkably these dishes wiped the floor with the ones we had previously and raised the bar even higher than expected.
Not only was their dinner service and food fantastic but the cooked breakfasts they provided as well were simply sensational, and they set you up perfectly for the day, and surprisingly to me as I never thought I would enjoy haggis, but with how fresh it was made (2 days prior was when the sheep was slaughtered) and the mix of herbs made it absolutely phenomenal.
I could not recommend this restaurant enough, and the chef and the rest of the staff were simply wonderful and lovely to just have a chat with.
Had dinner at Fraser’s tonight and it was great - one of the best meals we’ve had on our Scotland trip. Especially for travelers with dietary considerations - there were so many gluten and dairy free options which can be hard to come by when traveling. Definitely plan to get an app and dessert as a part of the experience. Highly recommend for those visiting Portree, even if they aren’t staying at the Bracken Hide. And don’t forget to visit the Whisky Bar afterward and ask “Whisky Dave” for a great recommendation.
What an amazing experience at this beautiful restaurant! The Fraser is staffed by the most accommodating, friendly and generous people. George and Shirley went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure our best friends had the wedding day of their dreams. They went as far as having someone do the mother of the grooms hair and nails ???? I cannot wait to one day meet again!
Best dinner we’ve had so far. Beautiful, modern interior with amazing views of the hills and water. The food was absolutely delicious. Wonderful, friendly, attentive service. There is a lovely separate whisky-tasting bar that has a great selection of other liquors as well. We would definitely come back here!
