Nice and cozy pub. Very good pub with a super relaxing atmosphere. We ordered a quich & a pie of the day which were very delicious :)
A very comfortable country pub in a beautiful, peaceful wooded setting. The food was very good and worth the drive.
We're incredibly grateful for the support by Tim, his family and staff over the weekend. We were onsite for the best part of 24hrs, and they were just superb at dealing with everything we threw at them. Lovely pub, great food and drink too, all in a beautiful North Downs setting.
Location absolutely brilliant but sadly the pub itself is disappointing. The Sunday Roast is quite expensive and the menu very limited. Roast was unfortunately just average. Veggies were a bit too soft and I would have liked to have some greens on the plate. The beef was on the dry side, thankfully the lamb shank was nice and tender. We had to return the rhubarb crumple as it was bland, very watery and not enjoyable at all. Kitchen really has a lot to improve. Luckily the staff were very friendly. Don't think we'll return.
Having been here a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, we thought this would be the perfect spot for Mother’s Day lunch.... how wrong we were. Firstly, the menu was nothing like that stated on the website, a lot lot lot less extensive than the options shown online. I was also told when booking that there would be a children’s menu. This again was incorrect, and the kids were only offered smaller versions of the main menu (which consisted of three options). The burgers that the kids had looked like something that would be served at your local chippy, definitely NOT fresh. The roast dinners were not dissimilar to those served at school. The meat was incredibly dry, the potatoes rock solid and the vegetables cooked within an inch of their life. As for the dessert, well... the crumble came out half frozen, it clearly hadn’t been heated up for long enough in the microwave. No idea how they can claim it is fresh food?! The only redeeming factor for this place was the staff, they were all very friendly. Despite this, I will most definitely not be returning.
Went for Saturday lunch with my parents. Inside the pub is nicely decorated with a few good beers available. The food was really nice and was served with large portions. We didn't have pudding as we were all stuffed from the dinner but the menu looked good. Will probably return in the future.
My family and I were walking at Toy Hill and stopped by here as it was recommended online as 'dog friendly' and it definitely was. Our pup was welcomed in the bar area which has tables for dining and even given a little treat! The service was very friendly and attentive and the food was great. We have two vegetarians in our family and whilst not a huge range to chose from both meals were lovely. I also recommend the sticky toffee pudding! If we lived nearby we would be regulars.
I had Sunday lunch at the Fox & Hounds last weekend and was really impressed. The service was super friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. Our table of four all enjoyed our starters, main courses and puddings, despite having varied dishes and despite one of our party being notoriously exacting about restaurant / pub food!
The atmosphere was very buzzy and warm, with children, dogs and diners all rubbing along nicely. Highly recommended and a big thank you to Alan and staff for looking after us so well.
