Great little pub. Friendly locals. Cheap pints. Owners like to come out for a pint and a chat later in the night. Great atmosphere. Stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage out back. Was amazing value for such a big self contained place. Will be back.
Walk to bed from the bar, perfect. Real Home made food,Good beer,gr8 big fire to welcome you to the bar, landlord Warren and the landlady Lucille are great company so a home cooked meal and a drink what a way to end the day.Breakfast for us was selfserve we were away each morning by 6:45am back to the pub each evening lovely bath to ease the aches and downstairs for food, there is a special every day and the Sunday carvery is great, be aware it starts at midday and there is always a queue. Ok here are the not so good points. It's not 4'or 5' star if that's what you are looking for this isn't for you. If you want a single double or family room great food all at good prices then don't pass here call in.
We stayed in the cottage behind the pub. Was a lovely place and the pub is small but friendly. My son ordered his first pint here, yes he ordered Guinness but he did drink half of it before the landlord swapped it for him
Our party of five, enjoyed an excellent carvery on 22nd June 2014. What made this special was that we had our pets with us,and for obvious reasons, thought to take a small Jack Russell, and a Lhasa apso into the facility would, on asking, receive a firm no.However the weather was very warm. and having nowhere to leave them, the manager sectioned off an area away from the restaurant. This recess was totally private and I want to use this medium to praise his initiative, and to confirm that out there, are people who will help.we only have to ask..
This is the worst establishment I have ever visited. We went there on a sunday afternoon at 2pm only to hear that lunch was finished ‘but they did have crisps’!! We had just come down from Snowdon.||The worst thing was that the place was 75% empty and the locals made us move table because we were sitting on the one they liked to play dominoes. We felt totally unwelcome and we won’t return. (Unless we draw them in the Snowdonia Dominoes Championships).
I was born in Pentrefoelas, My brothers, sisters grandparents, Great grandparets going back further than 1850's||||The Foelas Arms has been part of our history.||||Today after visiting the village to do some clearing of the graves. I thought as i usually do I will go for a drink in the local.||||I walked through the door to be told by a customer "locals only" I looked at the other customer blankly with no response. ||||The landlady said I could be served but would have to go out side to drink. again i did not respond. ||||My partner and I went to the toilet there was dog mess on the floor of the ladies.||||The whole place was just a dirty unkept disgrace of a pub.||||We drank our drinks bought a pack of Pork scratchings and went on our way, with no thanks or acknowledgement from the landlady or other customers. I did speak some welsh as I left which i think shocked her.||||What a shame this very old hub of the community that has hosted the funerals and weddings of generations of my family has degenerated into this .||||I wuld like to point out to the young foul mouthed people and the landlady. They are not the only people in the world who can speak and understand Welsh. AS i said i was born and brought up in the village. I spent the first 16 years of my life there every summer . I know where the best fields are to pick mushrooms in Pentrefoelas, I know how to lamb a sheep and sheer it, I can milk a cow and catch trout in the river. Our old house is cowshed now.||What they forgot tjough is i can aslo speak Welsh. i can understand the insults they spoke about myself and my partner.||||Today i am ashamed to call myself a Welshman.||||I doubt now in my 60th year I will visit this pub again. ||||Today the "Locals" showed total ignorance. ||||The landlady needs to sort the place out and clean the dog mess.||||THERE IS A GLOBAL PANDEMIC ||NO TRACK AND TRACE ||ALL CUSTOMERS SITTING BY THE BAR.||TOTAL DISREGARD TO SOCIAL DISTANCING
...stopped off on way to Snowdonia and didn't want to leave. Welcomed by staff and locals alike and plan to return. Hope to see more pipe smokers..! ...oh and let us know when you know the bride's name..! Thank you all x
