Best KPortal Reviews

Delicious homemade soup. Location fantastic, lacks Aircon so smells fried. Fabulous views ,friendly staff.
Been here a couple of times & always been pleased with the food, always freshly made & nice, had to wait a while but saying that there was 7 of us, I would definitely return, decor is a bit dated, it's on a fabulous location right next to the beach .
We loved this place but I'm giving a mixed review on the food.. The soup was great but the cheese toastie was dire. I'm not sure how you can not make a good toasties I've made and eaten lots with different types of cheese including the singles cheese slices, but never had a toastie so flavourless ????.
The milk with the tea was a very generous amount, and the lemon meringue cheesecake looked amazing but sadly only saw it on my way out! (next time!)
But the real charm about this place is it's 1970s coffee shop feel.. And menu, and the VIEW!
MY advice would be to reduce the menu options and just do less things very well.
I love this place, looking out over beautiful Ettrick Bay towards Arran.
You can't beat the location!
The food is great,
no-nonsense, no-frills and I love that tea comes in a mug and coffee choice is either instant or bean (Costa and Starbucks's choice completely overwhelms me). The team who work there are lovely. It's dog friendly too. The building could probably do with a bit of TLC but it's part of what it is and why we have such fondness for it
Went in here after reading reviews. Unknown why people give this place any negative reviews. It was busy and the staff are young, but very efficient, polite and friendly. Food was amazing. Best burgers by far, even across Scotland
Everything about this place is average. Really in need of a good facelift and change of management to people who actually look interested.
This establishment occupies one of the prime scenic sites on Bute overlooking a beautiful beach with stunning views of Isle of Arran and the geological phenomenon known as the sleeping warrior. The site is a popular place to view sunsets. Outdoor facilities are frankly dreadful. Uncomfortable ancient wooden picnic tables and equally uncomfortable metal or hardwood park bench type seats. The area is run down with constantly overflowing bins. In the recent good weather, we wanted to sit outside. Everything was served in paper cups and polystyrene trays We had to order at a side window. Table service is reserved for indoor tables only, where a greasy spoon atmosphere prevails. We assumed someone would alert us when our order was ready or perhaps may even have served it to our outdoor table. No chance, after waiting sometime, i went back to the serving window to find no one in attendance and our order lying at the window, soup and tea going cold.Staff are sullen unfriendly and disinterested in any form of customer service
At 10.30 am this morning there were no fresh baked goods at all for sale to accompany tea or coffee, only cold cheesecakes and dessert gateau, which had been languishing in chill cabinets since the previous day. Cafe closes at 4pm, so sunset refreshments are non existant. For this type of service you will not enjoy cheap and cheerful prices. God knows where profits go, certainly not into any improvements that will benefit the comfort of customers..????????????
I got a takeaway chicken burger which was okay, nothing special. The lady working there wasn't very helpful, but the man who finally served me was friendly. The menu looked like it offered standard cafe food. A lovely beach with beautiful views of Arran. This place could be so much more than what it is.
Beautiful sunny day to walk along the beach and then sit down for a most delicious bowl of seafood chowder. Absolutely lovely. We went back next morning for a full Scottish breakfast and another walk on the beach. Great fried eggs. Delicious cappuccino. Lovely staff.
