What an amazing place, the back of the building is a stunning conservatory filled with Italian charm, a wooden piano, lots of quirky little features. The staff where so welcoming (I think it was the owners daughter) and George the waiter. My little lad was made to feel welcome and was a lovely family treat. The food was fabulous! We will be back :)
An absolute fantastic meal and service. pleasant staff and the food was first class. You pay for what you get and is well worth the money. The steaks were melt in the mouth with an excellent sauce that complimented the dish. The spaghetti carbonara was totally gorgeous. A lovely restaurant that added to the ambiance. Will definitely be going there again.
Completely disappointed. Lousy service. Waited 45 minutes to be seated, even though we had booked and could see empty tables! According to the staff, this is standard practice. It then took a further 20 minutes for the starter to arrive and we had to ask twice for drinks. The food was nothing special and totally overpriced. Calves liver should melt in your mouth - not take a chainsaw to cut it. We had this inedible meal deducted from the bill. Our friends, who live locally, took us there. None of us will be returning.
Stunning in every aspect. Superb Tagliolini Crab, outstanding Halibut and Sicilian meatloaf. People saying not enough of this or that, is rubbish there's plenty of food and rest assured it's done prepared with correct quantities in Sicilian style. Trouble is most Brits (I'm one) know sod all about foreign cuisine. It's brilliant. Also romantic location, get the Al fresco area if you can.
Nice food i had the pepper steak and it was very nice the vegetables were seperate but not to the individual, there was a small dish of them to be shared between eight covers, i also had the sweet Pana Cotta which was okay but lacked the WOW! factor. All in all the meal and setting was very nice but not £38 worth, for that kind of money i would expect larger portions and maybe a free glass of wine/beer, would not go again unless somebody else was paying.
To be honest the food is reasonable. The fillet steak was well cooked. The vegetables were also well cooked but very sparce given the price. What I really hate is a service charge automatically added to a bill. The service was quite poor but just about acceptable had I not been charged for it. I could have had the charge removed but that's just not Done is it. I won't return even though the food was ok.
We went for dinner to Elio's last night for my birthday and came away disappointed. Service was hit and miss. Bread was a bit stale. Olives could have been better quality. Water jug requested when our starter was taken away, didn't come til after we had finished our main meal. Starter was ok but not superb. Main meal had lots of pasta but not much cream sauce or bolognese. Coffee was meant to come with amaretto biscuits and none appeared. Tables with paper cloths disappoint. Where's the quality you would expect paying these prices? And then to top it off our bill was fudged up when using the card machine so had to make payment twice. Would not go back. Shame.
Fabulous friendly owners and staff. Extremely helpful when we needed them to help spring a surprise on our son and his partner on the night of the proposal...saw to all our requests in our absence (we are in Spain). The night was perfect and beautiful. Thank you so much Elio's!
