Stayed here for a pre Christmas get together, there were around 20 of us in total (13 adults & 7 children).
The house was huge and had plenty of space for relaxing, entertaining, dining and drinking.
It is a little off the beaten track, but a short drive to villages and amenities.
Would definitely stay here again.
The house easily accommodated our large group of families. The bedrooms are all well sized. Helpful to have two large lounges to relax in. There are a variety of walks a short distance from the house.
This is now a large self catering group home holiday let- booked through cottages.com. We spent our annual family holiday here for 6 days from 8th August 2022. This is fabulous home steeped in history when we researched into it . There were 24 of us staying , ranging from 3 years old to 65 years old. Beautiful setting, amazing facilities, spacious bedrooms, full bed linen, and towels supplied. There is so much social space and a bar/games room with a children's play room too. A well equipped large kitchen with dining table (utensils cutlery pots and pans, crockery, microwave , lots of fridges and freezers, walk in pantry to put all your shopping in. Dining area was a bit congested just needed furniture rearranging so can sit more comfortably rather than having to squeeze by. A large utility room with a fantastic washing machine and tumble dryer and also an outdoor clothes rotary line . Iron available as well as a couple of hairdryers,Garden was absolutely huge with stunning views, well equipped barbecue , seating and tables and the all important outdoor games ( badminton, cricket , football goal set) to entertain all and of course the lovely hot tub which was well maintained and positioned to enjoy the lovely views. There is also a garden space for pets . Area to wash boots after a walk. Spent many a night star gazing. Ample parking. Lots of pamphlets on places to visit however would be good if owners can compile a folder listing walks, beaches, activities for children with distances to make it easier- even ‘ walks from doorstep’. A lovely welcome pack awaited us and the owners were so very friendly, accommodating and helpful , responded promptly to any queries we had or needed to top up the all important water dispenser during this heatwave period. There is nothing negative to say at all apart from just to be aware that the road leading to the house is bumpy and does take its toll . Would highly recommend for large family gatherings it’s just beautiful .
A Christmas and 50th birthday celebration drew us to Edderton hall. A lovely quiet setting overlooking Shropshire hills and countryside. |I can’t recommend the hall more. From the moment we arrived to the day we left the whole family had a great time. |There is more than enough space to entertain and feed large groups, and the kids had great games of hide and seek and murder in the dark the like of which will not be seen again. |The bedrooms are plush, warm and tastefully furnished. The bathrooms are clean with various facilities depending on the size of room. En-suite bathrooms in all the bedrooms was one of the main attractions to choosing Edderton. |We had 22 for Christmas dinner which was achieved by the really well stocked kitchen and dining facilities. The hostess trolley was a god send and the extra fridge and freezer in the utility was really useful. |We even managed to keep the interfering mother in law occupied with a choice of peelers. The cooker took a bit of getting used to but it cooked two turkeys to perfection. |Mike and Lyn were both really helpful responding to questions and accommodating our requests efficiently. |If you are staying a week or more with a large group I can recommend letting Mike organise a keg of beer from the local brewery. |Approx 88 pints in a keg works out at about £1.53 pint. |We will definitely consider booking Edderton hall again for the next big family celebration. |
Great venue for a birthday celebration! Everyone enjoyed their stay here, rooms were clean, facilities were good, lots of space for everyone and the views were amazing!
Not worth removing a star for this, but the only small downside is that because they allow dogs downstairs it meant a couple of guests' allergies flared up a little. So anyone with severe allergies should be a little wary.
But as aforementioned, it was great and we would go back again!
We booked the whole place for a big group.
We've found everything clean and in good order, the rooms are comfy and the lounges are perfect.
The hot tub was the perfect thing with the gloomy weather we've found.
The landscape is beautiful.
Only problem was a power cut that lasted a while and left some of the rooms unpowered and unheated.
But I guess it has nothing to do with the direction.
We were self-catering. 22 family members from aged 6 to 92¾! Good ground floor accessible room for the oldest member of the group. Games room and lounges for evenings. Dining room big enough to seat everyone. We'll equipped kitchen. Lovely decor and views. Bedrooms varied in size, some of them had the ensuite squeezed in while some were huge and luxurious. All comfortable and acceptable though and the shared spaces are lovely.
We have just returned from a very peaceful and relaxed break. Surrounded by beautiful countryside. Breakfast is lovely, nothing too much trouble. Rooms comfy and good size. Wonderful, not too far to visit Powis Castle and the light railway both good trips out.
