Enjoyed the racing, helped with three winners. Glad it was a nice day because they have taken a lot of the seating ( inside) away. Lot more people asking where has the seating gone?
Loads of parking,, place clean and fresh ( I've been going for years and it has been maintained beautifully). Refreshments fine. And the Crafting Fair I'd come for was great (but I spent too much).
The parking that was made available for use was wonderful. The accessible parking was close enough to the location of the entry point whilst it was also giving suitable ground to move on. The entry to the building itself was up a steep slope however which meant that as a wheelchair user I required assisstance. Once inside the lighting and atmosphere was bright and welcoming with the event staff on hand to keep the time queing was kept to a minimum. The show itself that I attended was brilliant with access to everything in one area giving out the feeling of a community. Links to public transport were clear and could be identified very easily. The problems howeve included clear signs inside for where toilets are both disabled and standard. The coffee shop I will be honest was not plesant from the encounter with staff, the confusion of what company if at all was providing the coffee. The paper cups had Costa Coffee on the sides but the staff did not have anything else that was indicative of Costa Coffee and when going to pay for the order we were told card only yet there was no clear signs that said it was card only at all. It was also very difficult to move around in my wheelchair after paying because there was a lack of consideration for wheelchair users. The same issue was also had in the area where you would be able to sit and have your drink. The final issue that was also had with the coffee shop was the quality of the coffee sold. It was very unplesent and tasted burnt. I would return to the venue again but would not return to the coffee shop.
Food in Racegoers restaurant was fine but sound system for race patter was awful - too loud and very 'scratchy'. Couldn't talk comfortably to our lunch guests.
Sound system for the after racing concert (Olly Murrs - who was v good) was clearly only set up for those on the ground, but for tjose like us who stayed up on Grandstand balcony the balance was terrible - only got the beat/bass and couldn't hear much of Olly's banter or singing clearly. We had techy types in our group who explained why it was so awful but I would expect that with their years of experience at these concerts it could be better by now. Very poor and disappointing.
This place is currently being used as a vaccine centre for Covid19.
It is being run very efficiently with dozens of volunteers being exceptionally helpful and friendly and the NHS staff being absolutely brilliant.
Been often, didn't think food was that good, to be honest I have had better for the price, still like the races though.
Had a meeting here painful to get in but was OK!
Brilliant Temporary Conversion to COVID Vaccination Centre! Thanks to Newbury Racecourse & Sponsors such as Dubai Duty Free! Fantastic Organisation from Local GP Surgeries!
