Not one of the best.
We bought the pizza margherita ( not good at all )
Beef burger.......the bread really bad and chips ....the worst I've ever eaten.
Fish and chips.........No.....
Service no star because there is no service when you order by yourself and go to pick up your food and clean after you.
I visited here early evening Wednesday 30th August (2023)! The initial greeting was warm & welcoming and the ordering of food process well explained! That actual ordering of food involved stepping out of the dining area onto the street and walking (only a few steps) to a window placing your order..You are then given a ticket with a number on! Once your number is called you go to a second window (this one is in the same area as the seating) collect your food and return to your table. Everything is served in single use containers..the cutlery is single use and come in a single use envelope! On opening the box I was slightly underwhelmed by the portion size (which is where the food loses a star). However on tasting I was happy at the temperature and flavour of the offering! The toilet is fit for purpose but that floor will give in on a ‘big ‘n’ one day! Overall the place is ok! However if you are anti self service checkouts when you’re at a supermarket you will not like it here.
Delicious food that also caters for halal dietary requirements!
We had the cheese and onion pie and the fish and chips, both were comforting meals, and the staff were very friendly! one to visit if you are in the Lake District!
A nice spot to stop for fish & chips.
After a little wait I had fish, chips, mushy peas and tarter sauce. Delicious and friendly service, will definitely coming back again next time we visit.
Thanks for the lovely fish and chips - classic chippy chips and what was described as the perfect batter to fish ratio. Also easily accommodated gluten free which was indistinguishable from the others (except by the label!)
The atmosphere is great, very lovely people that are welcoming, but that all falls apart when you dig into the food. I personally ordered cheesy chips, which didn't turn out to be cheesy, they turned out to be coated in nothing but sad, grated grocery store produce. The chips were also pretty bland.
Delicious, no nonsense, pub-grub style food, served in takeaway boxes with wooden cutlery...(both for taking away or eating in). Really good quality fish, served with proper, fresh cut potato chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a wedge of lemon. My wife had one or their pies, a proper pie, the sort with a full shortcrust pastry case, and not one that's just a bit of puff pastry plonked on top of some stew. The surroundings are simple, rustic even...(it's called The Driftwood, after all)...and the beer is served in plastic beakers. But boy, the food is very good, the service is quick, and it's the best value lunch we've had during our stay here in The Lakes. It definitely gets my unreserved recommendation.
First time visiting here and I’m glad we did, Staff were very polite and accommodating showed us to our seats and let us know about the heater and how to use it. food was perfect the heating in the seating area was a bonus . Looking forward to coming back again in the summer. Polite staff and tasty food!
