They did not forward our offer on to the vendor which meant we missed out on buying a house. Extremely unprofessional service.
We would have been prepared to raise our offer if the seller had been aware we were interested before they accepted another offer. Although they are the cheapest way to sell, this seller has missed out on potentially selling their property for thousands more than they did. I'd advise sellers to use another agent, you get what you pay for!
Also worth mentioning that the reviews for this company are skewed as they have a clause in their contract which threatens legal action to anybody that leaves negative comments online!
It’s apparently not possible to leave zero stars, therefore I will attribute this 1 star to the photographer, Harsh who they subcontracted to do the photos, valuation and virtual tour. He was excellent. The remaining blanks are for the Doorsteps hosted viewings 'service' (and remote customer 'service'), which is a complete waste of time. I paid £999 for their premium package specifically for the hosted viewings. PEOPLE DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS! .
I have documented a catalogue of errors, which I have discussed with Doorsteps and will not bore you with in detail, however they can be grouped into 3 main areas: 1) very obvious lack of a working process, 2) multiple phone-calls (on my part) repeating the same information to get anything done, 3) limited amount of communication around anything including feedback from viewings.
The worst moment was when they arranged a viewing and then didn't turn up to host the viewing that they arranged, so I got an angry call from the interested and potential buyer (whilst I was at a family wedding) that I then had to deal with. The potential buyer could not get in contact anyone at Doorsteps so they called me. Great. Not.
Long story short, it's been a complete waste of my time and money. As of today, I am still waiting for the return of my keys, despite chasing several times. It would also be great if (9 months later) someone at Doorsteps could send me an actual invoice.
So to summarise my review - 5 stars for taking my money and zero stars for everything else.
(I blame myself.... I should have listened to the advice on The Landlord Blog (google it).....he warned us all)
I have terrible experience with Doorsteps. My offered accepted by vendor but doorsteps keep open for viewing for more than week after accepting my offer. They keep forcing me to use their mortgage adviser and solicitor. Later they asked me solicitor details, DIP and fund evidence. I provide them all required details, by the mean time I paid for solicitor initial fee £250. I was waiting for more than 10 days and regularly called to doorsteps, they very hardly receive phone and every-time assure me its on the process with convincing team.
Last Monday I called them and asked about update, gentlemen replied house is already sold to other buyer. I asked them if you sold the house to other buyer then why don't you inform me. How you can keep continue more than 2 weeks for viewing when vendor already accept my offer. I lost £250 which I paid for convincing. He could not give me answer.
I will not buy the house if I need to buy the house with doorsteps.
Be careful before using doorsteps.
I tried to arrange a home viewing over 4 times. I struggled to get in contact with anyone and doorsteps kept sending me the same emails over and over again. The vendor did not get back to any of my viewing requests in a month... I think it is much better to deal with an estate agent you can see and speak to properly rather than a website that doesn't care and doesn't make sure its vendors are legitimate.
I am a cash buyer waiting to go but they didn't care. I ended up going for a different property who offered agents that were easy to get hold of and deal with.
I came across Doorsteps whilst I was searching for a flat to buy.
The process to make a booking for a viewing is quite fast and efficient, everything went smooth including viewing the property with the actual seller. I ended up liking the property and actually making a bid for purchase.
I called them few days after my viewing to make my offer, the offer was successfully received as I also received a call from their recommended broker - which wasn't needed, in my case.
I remember the seller had urgency to sell the flat, days gone by without hearing from both Doorsteps or the seller...so I drop a quick message to the seller to ask for an update: the flat was sold.
The seller told me she never received my offer...so I rang Doorsteps. According to them, I never made an offer. Unfortunately for them I had plenty of proof. The lady on the phone couldn't understand what happened so she had to escalate to some supervisor which I was expect to be handled asap.
After 1 day the 'supervisor' (which remained anonymous via email) was apologising for the error etc etc.
Quite frankly there is nothing to be apologetic about this situation. The company results to be very unreliable and unprofessional and I would strongly discourage anyone to rely on them for a house purchase (which as we all know it's already a painful process to go through).
I thought it was cool for once to avoid experiencing annoying estate agents but let me tell you something like this would never happen with any serious business.
To be avoided.
On Saturday morning I made a request via Doorsreps to view the property that same afternoon. The response was almost immediate. I viewed the property with benefit of very useful advice from the owner/vendors - a system I much prefer to being accompanied by an estate agent. I made an offer that same day and it was accepted very quickly. All in all a great start to my purchase.
My partner and I arranged a viewing and we received confirmation text of an appointment time and date. We confirmed the booking with one of their staff over the phone.
We have travelled far, in the rain today and we were on time for our appointment. We waited for 20 minutes before deciding to call Doorsteps after no one showed up.
We were greeted with an unhelpful call centre worker. He exclaimed that the booking was “never confirmed”. We said we spoke to someone to confirm which he outright denied. He then gave all manner of excuses about why we should not have travelled today without a booking confirmation. After a 5 minute discussion, he then even tells us that the property was no longer for sale and had been removed from the market!!!
1. No message to us to even say that the booking was cancelled
2. No message to us to say the the property was taken off the market!!!
Doorsteps are a disgrace to the property industry who offer appalling customer service because they lack communication skills both over the telephone and by email and text. I do not recommend Doorsteps to anyone.
I would avoid this company - the saying really is true that you get what you pay for. I tried to sell with Doorsteps but once you pay the fee they aren’t really interesting in selling your property. Every time I call them the phone just rings through and they don’t meet their response targets when you email. This worries me should potential buyers wish to make offers as the chance of offers being missed is high. Plus your property is only listed on Right move for 3 months so time really is of the essence. I would not use this company to sell my house again. Considering I’ve paid £499 to sell, they haven’t really done anything apart from list the property on Right move!
