Best KPortal Reviews

Centrally located in Brecon, Dewi's seems to struggle with a clear identity.
When we visited the service mostly consisted of youngsters who dressed from jeans to tracksuits to yoga pants, for a restaurant with £20 mains I would expect a more appropriate attire.
During the visit our starters got confused, another table cancelled theirs because the wait was too long & a third table send the mains back because they were cold and we had to wait at leat 30min for our starter plates to be cleaned.
Menu seems to be more of guidance some ingredients were left out e.g our lamb shank had no rosemary and although I ordered the kangaroo steak no chillies were to be found.
The cockles are not for everyone but were interesting.
Portions were above average and all other dishes tasty.
If they figure out their service it might be worth a new visit.
Fantastic! The food was great, and Dewi was super kind and friendly to us, explaining the “lord of the rings” style map of Brecon Beacons, and recommending some hikes. We’d definitely go back
The best pizza I have ever ate, the owner is the kind man. His knowledge about Italian cousin is sublime, and service was on point. I have been travelling for the charity event, and Dewi was really thoughtful about Brecon Park, told me which path I should choose. Whenever you are travelling to Brecon you must make a stop there, the atmosphere is carrying you straight to Italy. Definitely coming back there!!!
This was a great find in Brecon today. The food was delicious and the service friendly. The photos show the tiramisu and baked alaska. Will definitely be going back and would recommend trying
The food is outstanding and the menu could rank with Michelin starred venues. We loved our ostrich and kangaroo steaks. Both were cooked superbly and tasted divine. The reason it was not five star was due to the disappointingly inexperienced service . We had to ask to be served at every stage of the meal, including paying for it, as the waiter just kept us waiting for too long. We did leave a tip, but it was for food not for the service.
Food was outstanding, the choices are really different and encouraged some on our table to try something new, everyone loved their food. David was very warm, welcoming and helpful. Wine and beer choices were also enjoyed by everyone. For me it was the best carbonara I've ever had. I also loved the young serving staff as this gives back to the community and creates job opportunities. Thank you, we loved it.
Fairly good Italian food, service friendly but a bit slow. Waiting staff could be better presented (gym gear not really appropriate for a restaurant with £15-20 main courses!) and service staff chatting around the bar seemed unprofessional. Glassware on tables could be better polished.
Dishes tasty but major disappointment was our mains being served while told that one of the options was no longer available. My friend was asked "is there anything else you would like?" This was an hour after ordering and we had eaten starters. Plenty of time for the kitchen staff to make sure we knew they didn't have that dish available and to offer an alternative. No real apology / bill reduction offered in the first instance. We didn't have time to wait for a replacement dish as we were going to a show in the nearby theatre so my friend went without.
My friend politely complained and the young waiter agreed to take our wine off the bill, but this should have been done once they realised our friend would go without a main course! It is the responsibility of the owner / restaurant manager to ensure mistakes are quicky remedied and this was not done on this occasion.
I don't want to leave a bad review - especially for a small independent place - the food was pretty good and the young staff are friendly, but there is potential for them to offer a much better experience than we had earlier today.
I can't express how disappointed I was. I really looked forward to a new place to eat out in Brecon. We started with an apology when the pleasant and friendly young waiter only had 3 menus for our able of 4 diners. This was followed by plenty more apologies when we discovered a number of dishes were off the menu.... a promising sign I thought, if they have been that busy. This was followed with yet more apologies when my partner tried to buy beer only to discover a number of these out of stock too. After our order was placed, we had an hour and a half to enjoy our drinks before any sign of food. The young waiter did return to apologise for the wait after an hour. I had plenty to drink as it happens, my gin and lemonade (served in a milk shake glass, at my request, as I'm too clumsy for stemmed glasses) was filled to the brim, sadly no ice and slice to be seen here, they don't have this either.
Food when it arrived was a great disappointment for my friends. My pizza was just fine. But the slow cooked buffalo was was quite tough and dry considering it was slow cooked, no sign of the creamy mash mentioned on the menu, the only accompaniment was 2 rounds of saute potato, half a parsnip and a slice of carrot. The lamb shank was similarly served with a noticeable lack of vegetables. This for £20/head. When our table was later cleared, no pleasantries were proferred like "did you enjoy your meal?" We weren't even offered the dessert menu.
You might think the staff young and poorly trained, yet there was a middle aged waitress behind the bar, that was seen to leave the safety of that haven from time to time. Her attention being occupied almost entirely by the man that propped up their bar for our entire 2 hour stay and her mobile phone.
Needless to say we won't return.
