Best KPortal Reviews
I was in this establishment a mere 2 hours ago and I cant say I was that impressed. I spent £2.40 (which is more than I spent the other week in there for the same thing) on a breakfast pasty. This I strongly believe is a lot especially when I took a small bite and found very little filling. I thought ho hum maybe there is more filling in the middle. How wrong I was!!! It had actually turn out that I had spent £2.40 on pastry which I was very very disappointed with.
The saga continues as when I was purchasing this breakfast delicacy (NOT!) the staff could not have been ruder. As a returning regular costumer I thought that the staff would actually be warm and welcoming however they were not! They fail on a daily basis to make polite conversation, a pleasant greeting or a thanks for your costume. Compared to other cafes of similar calibre in the area this is poor.
In conclusion I would not recommend this establishment and the fact they ask for good reviews but fail to earn them is very brazen. I believe they rely on the school students which they continuously exploit by raising prices all the time.
This should be an excellent little cake & pastry shop but is let down by the grumpy staff. A great range of bread, cakes & sandwiches and they also do hot breakfast rolls and coffee to take out or drink in (couple of small tables to the rear of shop).
Staff here have always come across as unenthusiastic, but I've never understood why. Asked the for a salad box this week, and the lady literally sighed at me as she had to make one up. She then asked if I'd like sweetcorn. "Yes please, "...another sigh..."Guess I'll have to go out the back and get some then"...*sigh. "Please don't put yourself out. "..."OK then." So no sweetcorn. It's a shop. Expect customers to ask for things.
Curtis, please take a look at your staff and find out what the issue is. It simply spoils an otherwise lovely experience.
I love the Yorkshire curd tart - when I can get one. No chance where I live in Lancashire and they are even rare in some parts of the county in which they originated. But there they were in this shop as we visited Rutland and they were among the best I'd ever tasted. Whatever the reason they are available so far from 'home', keep 'em coming and we'll be back.
Like a funeral went in today asked the lady what flavour each pastry was she huffed at me well maybe if there was labels I wouldn't ask I brought sausage, beans and cheese pastry, chicken and mushroom pastry and steak pasty supposed to cost £6.50 but charged me £7.10 I didn't notice until I checked my bank account later on. Sausage, beans and cheese pastry had one tiny sausage, barely any cheese and beans mainly pasty same with the steak one barely any in gravy was an alright portion lastly the chicken and mushroom were alright needed more filling like the other ones.
Selection of food available was great and very tasty! Chatted with Jan and Julie while I was there, both really friendly. Definitely would recommend
The staff were friendly, happy and helpful. The rolls were lovely with plenty of filling.
It's okay, I like the products apart from the cakes and the staff are nice. I wasn't too impressed with the fillings in the sandwiches as there wasn't enough but it is reasonably priced for what you get. I'd still make regular visits.
Everything is bought in either from pilgrim foods or Bloomsbury bakery. This seems to takeaway from the locally made locally loved slogan. Prices are much to high for the quality of the products on offer.
