This place needs closing down. My husband was admitted to ward 15 for bowel surgery. He was fit and healthy and had passed all his pre op tests, they said he was the perfect candidate for surgery.
Our son had a terrible time on ward 1 in september, so we were not happy when my hubby was told surgery would be at Cramlington. NSEC
After the surgery he was left over 9 hours sat in a chair because they were to busy to make his bed. The staff were busy singing happy birthday and taking a cake to a patient opposite him because his wife used to work on the ward, yet I had to ring to complain so he could be put in a bed.
My husband was taken seriously ill the day after and was showing all signs of infection, low oxygen levels, high fever, his stomach had ballooned to twice its size, a surgeon came to him and said he was taking him back down to theatre, yet he was left a further 30 hours before they operated on him a 2nd time.
The bowel operation he had, had caused necrosis, allowing all its contents to infect his organs. He is now in Critical Care with Septic shock, was on a ventilator and now on kidney dialysis. Its not looking good. The surgeon told me he wished he had taken him into theatre then but now its hindsight ???? How do they get away with this???
Critical care is amazing but he should have been home with me and our son after 3-5 days, now I do not know if he will ever come home.
No matter what happens at this place, they all cover each others backs.
Pathetic service. Took my child, he had chest pain. After 40 minutes nurse checked him even there was only 1 patient before us. After that it tool them 20 minutes to get paracetamol and further 1 hour 30 minutes no response. They simply don’t care.
I was admitted unable to walk. Ward 3 couldn't have been more supportive and caring. Phil ?Dixon physio took time to look into what was happening in my life. First to ask in 3 years (I'm 76 and sole carer for husband with severe parkinsons plus terminal cancer) With a lot of patience he got me walking all be it unsteady at first. Put carers in to support me at home. I can't thank him enough.

LIFE AFFIRMING HEALTHCARE BY AMAZING PEOPLE
I've been involved with Cramlington Hospital with serious sudden illnesses and emergency life threatening admissions 3 times in 5 years. My mother, myself and my father in turn. In my experience the service ethos at Cramlington proves this to be an excellent, outstanding and wholly remarkable place of healthcare supported by humanitarian values. A shining example of Britain's uniquely special NHS at its absolute best. The staff are totally focused on their patients, and the needs of patient's families and carers. The service and the care here are exemplary. No matter how busy or under how much pressure the ward staff are they focus entirely on the needs of the moment, and the people they are caring for, My 22 year old son summed it up saying: 'when they're talking to you they make you feel like there's no one else important to them - and they're doing this with everyone who's on the ward, the patients and their visitors, on the ward. They are amazing, it makes you optimistic about humanity'. Thanks go out to everyone who works there from cleaners to receptionists to the most senior consultants working as a joined up fully competent compassionate team. Bravo!
Concerned that 'Covid' is still being used to prevent relatives from visiting their loved ones. A dear friend who is currently receiving 'care' informed me of being manhandled. I feel quite upset about this. At the same time he's being looked after well by some staff, so I'm confused and worried. Sorry, but I don't trust the NHS.
After a fall whilst on holiday I was treated with utmost kindness, from the ambulance crew right through to the A and E department and my final overnight stay in Ward 12.
I was speedily given xrays and blood tests. I never saw a harassed face or one without a smile. All this at a time of Junior doctor's strike.
