The worst fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was dry and the batter brown and disgusting. The chips were horrible too. Definitely using old oil. I couldn't tell you what the actual fish was. £10 for fish and chips. Wouldn't pay a £1 for it, in fact if they were giving it away I would say no. People were asking for gravy, curry sauce, were told no. The mushy peas were lumps frozen and they poured hot water on them. Avoid at all costs. I am actually going to report them to health and safety standards. We threw it all in the bin. Disgusting
All the good reviews put on here, are either fake or they ain't got a clue what food is.

The portions used to be of a healthy size for your money and it was a treat.
But they are now served in a cardboard box which is very thin.
If we actually got a potato each I’d be surprised.
The fish was good.

Used to be a good chippy but £10 for fish and chips is a bit steep when the fish was wafer thin and gone in three bites, still get a decent amount of chips but deffo gone down the nick since the last time I was in, wondering if it has changed owners?

I’ve been coming to this chippy for nearly three years as we have a home nearby. Every single visit without fail the quality has been between good and great. After-all this isn’t a maccy D’s where it’s super processed to be identical globally all the time!
The consistency and quality is always reflected by the fact there is always a queue regardless of what day or time we visit.
This has become a little tradition of ours to stop here for a chippy tea when we visit.
I’d recommend it purely based on my experience over the past three years and would go further to say that in my experience service levels are typically a reflection of customer attitude.
Excellent fish and chips; worth the walk from Hatherwaite. Arrived around midday on a Friday, not long after opening. Fish was freshly cooked and moist while the batter was crispy along the edge, which was good for me.
Good portion of chips, meant for a healthy portion for lunch. My wife struggled to finish hers and we both walked away full and satisfied.
The outside benches are next to the road, so while not ideal, I was well aware of this beforehand so no reason to lower my rating.
Chips were delicious, typical chip shop chips. Would happily return on my next trip to the Lakes.
Terrible fish and chips, fish was so small (more fish in a birds eye fish finger) covered in a horrible thick batter to make the fish look bigger, average chips complete waste of money. Should be ashamed of themselves to serve this rubbish. Next time will drive past, must be better fish and chip shops in Ulverston.

We randomly stopped here, and when we entered no one was there and we shouted if anyone was there and nothing. They eventually came out and not apologetic and seems grumpy. The food I would say was more batter and chips not fish and chips. We struggle to find the fish and the batter was so hard and thick we just didn’t enjoy it. I think it was minimum effort before they closed up for the day but either way customer service goes along way these days
