Purchased a crusty loaf to have with our fresh crab and prawns for tea. Loaf was dry and did not taste fresh at all. Would have been better off going to Morrisons.
When they first took over part of the hardware store and refurbed the shop, the bakery was great, especially the sourdough bread. However, the bread doesn't taste anywhere near as good as it used to. So unfortunately, we haven't been back after the last few loaves we have bought.
Also I took my boy there to chose something from there, as a treat. He picked some biscuits, the ingredient list was awful, stacks of E numbers. I didn't even think to check, but I should've done.
I wouldn't normally leave negative reviews, but I think the owners need to be aware.
Bakeries can be extremely profitable, but things need to be done properly, or people just won't come back.
Sorry, but we're not impressed with the quality now.
Bought a few things and once home discovered that one of items was full of thick mould inside, I telephoned straight away, the lady said sorry but that was all, I had to suggest she remove rest from shelf and then said I'll be in next week for a refund then?? I went in following week to be told that she was unable to authorize a refund it had to be done by owner!!!! And it's not as if owners weren't aware as enviromental health had been to see them that week regarding this issue. So have to back again next week to get a refund. Terrible service!! Just glad that I discovered it before my 13 year old daughter ate it.
Wife purchased two pastys they were great. But when I took one of the Eccles cakes from the bag,it was over baked, dry and very hard. The other four were as follows two were the same as the first the other two were slightly better but all went in the bin. So we spent around £20 pounds and got two edible pastys in the end, and two short cake.which were good. When the wife asked for Eccles cake the woman serving said yes I have some in the back. So its probably why they were not in the display areas.
We will not be wasting money there our money there again..
We always try to buy local - but come on 2 x donuts for £5!! To make it worse they were both stale !! Save your money and get fresh ones from Lidl - we will not be returning or recommending your prices are extortionate and donuts are dry!!
Little bakery shop, sells all sorts of cakes with cream. Good selection of breads and pastries. Sells hot and cold pasties. The sausage rolls are delicious. Well worth a visit. The Bakery has moved to the corner of Bond Stand is now called The Craft bakery.
Feels like stepping back in time to the 70s - but not in a bad way. I bought a scone (which was fresh and not dry), an Eccles (currant filled pastry - OK), a gingerbread and a shortbread. All tasted OK. I think it is cash only at the bakery. The staff were friendly enough. Recommended for the retro experience!
had the best pastry of my life (a cinnamon Danish) there. it was beautiful in all ways. it was 1.60 and they were gone the next day. the staff were alright, n b they close at 3.30
