Best KPortal Reviews

Very nice place, the atmosphere was very comfortable and warm. The server was also nice and answered a question politely.
The coffee and cake was also very good, I got the flat white and caramel apple tray(c/b?)ake, i forgot the name.
It being my first and maybe only time in Scotland, it was definitely a nice experience. Wish I could come back but unfortunately I can't.
Highly recommend this place :-)
this only cost me like 8-9 pounds.
Highly recommended! We got two soups (lentil & ham), one toasted ham & cheese sandwich, a slice of cake, and a cafe latte. Everything was delicious and it cost us £24.55, which seems reasonable for a heavily touristed town. Staff were very friendly, we were served quickly, and we got to sit outside sheltered from the rain. As one reviewer, said the toilets were for customers only, but that's normal in a busy tourist town. I don't understand the negative reviews at all.
We visited this lovely coffee shop last week and enjoyed a tasty lunch. Favourites were the soup and delicious panini. The cakes looked amazing but we were too full to enjoy one but we will be back! Staff were super friendly and very efficient even though it was quite busy. Similar to a previous review, we were bamboozled by the negative reviews
I wish I read the "negative reviews" because my experience there today was very disappointing too and I definitely won't be back.
After having such a lovely day hillwalking, we (4 of us) decided to have a walk around Callander and eventually going into Courtyard Cafe. The place looked nice. When we arrived, the 2 staff (1 young male and 1 older woman were sat in one of the booths, because they only had one customer in) The male staff who served us was polite and after 3 us ordered coffees and cake, the 4th person (who didn't want anything) needed to use the toilet. He asked the woman staff (who was still seated in the booth near the counter) where the toilets were, only to be told he couldn't use the toilet because he wasn't a paying customer. I explained to her that 3 of us had JUST ordered coffees and cakes and she said "yeah but you all paid separately" I was flabbergasted. I didn't see the relevance. She then told him the 1 toilet they have, was occupied, even though by now, we were the only people in the shop.
We went to sit down to wait for our coffees and cake (and for the toilet to become free) 5mins later, another young, white couple came in, ordered 2 bottles of water to takeaway, with the girl needing to use the toilet. This older woman staff ACTUALLY showed the girl where the toilet was! And the toilet was free all that time while we were there! I went to speak to the woman staff about this and she played dumb about knowing we needed to use the toilet and apologised, then went onto saying that the girl was "taking away" (her order...a bottle of water) Again, I didn't understand why she said that.
Honestly, such a bizarre and unpleasant experience. I'm actually gutted we gave them money. The coffees were not good at all either! My "white chocolate mocha" which cost £4 was SO sweet, that I only managed to drink half of it, whilst getting a major sugar rush. The icing from the carrot cake was melting, I assume it was because it was too close to the fridge light. That cost £4.30. I wish we had crossed the road and avoided this hassle.
I was in here yesterday with 3 others yesterday. They had all bought coffees and a cake but I didn't want anything. I asked the older woman where the toilet is and she says to me it's only for paying customers and that there's someone in there now (probably said to wait and see if I order anything). I told her "I'm with them" (who had spent around £18 on 3 cups of coffee and 1 slice of cake) then she says something along the lines of "you all paid separately, blablabla"....
The coffee shop was completely empty when we came in yet all the tables had a "reserved" sign on them, possibly to give the illusion that it's busy, yet we were told we could sit there.
Coffee was overly sweet and not the best.
Overall very strange atmosphere from the staff.
Very rude staff.we felt like we were an inconvenience to them. Asked for a large latte and it was 2/3 filled. And cost 50p extra. Then the woman got angry when I went to go to the toilet. Then to just say there is someone else in there. A very strange and awkward experience.
It’s very rare I leave negative reviews - However, I feel I need to in order to warn other people and hopefully encourage the owners to improve this place.
We visited on New Years Day when (understandably) they had a limited menu. I should have known when we walked in and it was cold, there was no atmosphere and no one else in there, however we were hungry and had decided to treat ourselves to one brunch out for our entire winter camping holiday. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!
We were robbed of £25 for 2 salmon bagels and 2 pretty awful coffees. The bagels were half toasted, no butter, a chunk of cream cheese slapped in the middle and a tiny slither of salmon with some stale crisps on the side. The coffees were pretty poor, I drank my eggnog latte but my fiancé didn’t bother with his ‘milky flat white’.
The tip of the iceberg was when I asked if I could get some boiling water in my flask, and whilst the man serving was more than happy, the lady looked as if I had asked her if I could help myself to the fridge ???? After spending £25 on poor poor food, I would have expected a bit of hot water for free.
Anyway, you win some you lose some - We walked out and straight into an awesome coffee shop across the way for some strong coffees and a bacon bap (all for £10) to actually fill us up!
OMG prices are horrendous please ask how much something is first before ordering £2.50 for a small scone, butter and jam is not acceptable........fortunately we just ordered 2 mugs of tea and was charged (robbed of £6.50) ........strongly advise quicky walk past to the many other lovely cafes
