This one surprised me. It was better than I expected. It is located a little distance from the main road making it quiet and tranquil yet still a short distance to Eileen Donan Castle and some restaurants and bar. Parking on site was ample and easy. The host communicated well and even provided information on eating places and that the nearby one did not serve food on Tuesdays, the day we arrived. Fortunately we found fish and chips takeaway right at the castle.|The room was of ample size, clean and comfortable. The structures was a little old and not fully maintained but it was still comfortable and clean. The bathroom especially is updated and had plenty of surfaces and hooks for clothes.|Breakfast options were many, delicious and portions large.||Disliked the stairs but most accommodations are houses with stairs. No TV in room but there is a tv lounge which we did not use.|Food options nearby is limited. The alternatively is to drive 8 miles to Kyle of Lochalsh.
We’ve just had a wonderful two night stay at Sue and David’s fabulous B&B. Everything was absolutely perfect, from start to finish. Our beautiful double room was spacious and spotless, with stunning views over the water and to the mountains. The area was very quiet and peaceful and we loved the silence at night with the window open.|Conchra house itself is very old and it feels it. It has beautiful Sash windows and many traditional features, including a lovely guest lounge, complete with board games to pass the time on a wet afternoon. The bathroom was full of quality fluffy towels and had a piping hot shower. |Sue serves an absolutely stunning breakfast, with freshly brewed coffee and lots of local choices. ||We feel lucky to have happened upon such a fantastic B&B and would recommend to anyone wanting a base to explore the Western Highlands and Isle Of Skye, with the guarantee of a peaceful nights sleep. Perfect!
Conchra House will always attract visitors due to its location: near the popular E.D. castle and main road, but utterly quiet and peaceful with scenic views and nothing to hear but birdsong.|The rate of just under £100 a night, B&B, is also attractive. The bathroom was okay and the cooked element of the breakfast was good.|On the downside, we felt that the twin bedroom we stayed in, with inwardly sloping walls, was too small for adults and their luggage - we both bumped our heads several times.|Décor is tired, with a musty smell on the stairs. No TV in the rooms, though there is a residents' lounge with a moderately sized TV and a few board games.|We arrived downstairs for breakfast well within the designated hour, but as we were the last guests to finish, we were encouraged to be on our way by a vigorous polishing of the other tables by our hostess which made our toast smell and taste of polish! Five minutes before checking out time, just as we were picking up our cases, there was a loud banging on our door and a curt "We need your room" . The whole experience was like travelling back in time and staying with a rather grumpy gran! (Not being ageist, we were probably older.)
Recently had 2 double room and enjoyed our stay with you. Everything 1 st class and food really good. Enjoyed the full breakfasts,
It is on the gateway to Skye so ideal location , with lovely views.
Recommend.
Thanks Sue.
Lovely hotel in a quiet spot not far from the Skye Bridge. Bedroom and bathroom were spotless and the breakfast was good. Bed was very comfortable.|We stayed in an attic room so the ceiling was slanted and low in some places, although it didn't bother us. The view from the bedroom window was stunning.|The hosts were attentive and helpful. Sue gave us a map and recommended some places to visit in the area.|Will definitely come back again. Highly recommended.
We stayed at Conchra House for one night on our way north. The views across the loch are beautiful, and the tucked away location means no road noise. ||We were greeted by Sue, who was really friendly, welcoming and full of local knowledge. ||Yes the rooms are a little tired, but very clean and well-equipped. ||The breakfasts are fantastic - my husband enjoyed his full cooked breakfast featuring local sausage, whilst I had the biggest plate of local smoked salmon and eggs you could wish for! ||For the price, we cannot fault our stay and will definitely stop by again next time we travel through Dornie.
Very much enjoyed our one night stay at Conchra House. Our room was on the second floor with the most wonderful view. Room was newly decorated, bedding good quality, and the bathroom was newly renovated. Cooked breakfast was good. Definitely recommended.
This guest house is in a lovely location overlooking Loch Long in a quiet location. The breakfast was very nice, in my case smoked salmon and scrambled egg.
However the room we had was small and the decor and furnishings old and tired. It was however clean with a what looked like a new shower cubicle. I would say not particularly good value compared with other b&b’s what we have stayed at.
