Best KPortal Reviews
Liked: The space and how well laid out it was. The setting was away from the main road and next to a beautiful reservoir/lake and even though we were out of season it looked like it would be very well established for a bustling summer as it had a park, bar and restaurant. The gentleman that owns it was so helpful and made us feel welcome.
Disliked: Nothing was open and it did not stipulate this on the booking so was hoping we would be able to use the main facilities as we were charged £50 for one night. Apart from that I would return if it was summer.
Liked: Excellent location, very quiet with lake view, yet only 10 minutes off the A30. Very handy for an overnight stay.
Very friendly staff, good service.
We ate our evening meal in the restaurant. We both had curries and they were deli ious - Jalfrezi and Korma with Sag Aloo and Pilau Rice
Pitch reasonably priced
Facilities OK
Disliked: EHU too expensive
Nice rooms, lots of dust but clean bedding and bathroom, comfortable beds. very cold room only had a small oil heater and bathroom freezing. Not much choice for drinks and all cans sold were £2.50 and said not to be sold separately! The food was really nice but lack of choice (sold out). The restaurant was really cold, no heating on. Lovely area and views. Main door to rooms also had to be left open all night as couldn't be opened with our keys (could lock bedroom door) cheap overnight stay but wouldn't wsnt to be there longer in winter.
Very conveniently located campsite with lake views. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and both had excellent curries (Jalfrezi and Korma, served with Sag Aloo and pilau rice - delicious!!)
Liked: Staff were friendly, although there were none available when our 2 neighbors were partying until 4 am. Shouting at the top of their voices. Dogs peeing over our awning. Facilities were not cleaned, hairs everywhere. Could seriously do with modernisation . If I paid for a pod which looked lovely I would be highly disappointed when using the toilets. Didn’t eat there as I read the reviews. I could understand if you had just taken the place on, but 6 years of being there you really need to invest. Great location though and has potential.
Disliked: Shabby. We are campers and the facilities were disgusting
Liked: Easy access to the A30, good base for exploring Devon and Cornwall. Spacious pitches.
Disliked: Middle of summer and the playground was still closed and had not been reopened (due to repairs).
Would have liked hot showers. Not matter what time of day the “hot” shower was just barely above what I would call “cold”
Liked: Pitch and surrounding area great, good food and some friendly staff. All other campers very friendly.
Disliked: Washing facilities needs updating, frustrating you can’t walk around the lake with you dog off a lead although people did.
Liked: This was a delightful site, on the whole, run by equally warm and friendly staff who have recently taken it over.
We stayed in one of their camping pods, in case we needed and area to dry out should there be inclement weather. The pod was clean and well kitted out, having a kettle, microwave, heater and toaster, and the bed was most comfortable. All the bedding was supplied and clean.
We were allowed to have a fire pit, which was brilliant.
The facilities were basic but kept clean enough.
Breakfast was awesome though. A full English, which should keep someone satifsfied all the way until tea time.
We will be back again but will camp from our van next time as there are also plenty of spacious pitches (24 in all) with electric hook-up.
Disliked: The only downside was that there wasn't much gluten free food on offer (I'm trying to curb the amount of gluten in my diet.) However, they did offer a mean ham, egg and chips, served with a side salad, which was lovely.
And, I'm sure, once they get going further, this will improve.
