Barnet Council is utterly shambolic, so don't count on them to do anything whatsoever.
That said, this outdoor tube station isn't bad if you get on at off-peak hours. There are digital signs overhead that tell the time to the next trains, though sometimes the Central London ones skip their route altogether (that's on TFL).
Not a step free station, so not recommended for those with prams, physical limitations, or luggage.
The immediate area can feel a bit dodgy, but keep your head down and ignore all the riff-raff, and hopefully you won't get harassed or pickpocketted.
The chap in the ticket office was extremely helpful. Last week he saw me looking puzzled and when I explained where I wanted to get to, he gave me excellent information and advice on using my card at the turnstile. I was at the station again this morning and the same chap helped me out. I said i wanted to go to Waterloo and he explained which train i needed to get. I was really pleased with the service and it seems a nice quiet station.
If I could I would give it no stars. The staff here are extremely rude and unhelpful I understand they are not required to help with buggies but it’s the attitude they have about it. The worst customer service in the world. It won’t hurt to help people you can clearly see are struggling? Luckily commuters have been nice enough to lend a hand whilst the staff hide in the back. In terms of the station itself it is grubby and disgusting with people jumping the barriers while staff watch on. I heard they are renovating and installing a lift soon? They need it.
There are hardly any staff here and when there are they're usually hiding in the office. At least one machine is out of order at any given time. People jump over the barriers or push past paying people all the time and nothing gets done about it. When there is a delay or closure there is little to no information at the station (and if there is it comes too late). Thousands of people are moving into the area every week with all the new flats being built and this station needs a major improvement by TfL.
It's a nice place, but they keep on having 2022 tube maps
No ticket office, not enough ticket machines. No step free access. No toilets. Charge up your oyster card before you get to this station. Northern line tube, Edgware branch. Northern line is 24hrs on fridays and saturdays. A 7 minute bus ride to the Royal Air Force museum at Hendon.
Invisible staff. No service announcements even during disruption. Passengers regularly pushing through barriers with no-one to challenge them. Barriers frequently out of action.
The station is always so dirty, nearly every morning I walk up to the station the litter bins are over flowing which is so unhygienic, I appreciate Barnet Council has the responsibility to empty the bins but the station it’s self should do more to keep the area around the station cleaner!
