Staff and atmosphere of the shop are great, very friendly and kind and engage in conversation with you.
Was a little disappointed at the fish as it felt like it wasn’t really crispy / fried well, was quite greasy and it stuck to the paper when it was unwrapped. So can say I have had better - willing to give benefit of the doubt as it was takeaway.
Chips were nice enough and battered sausage had great reviews. Would give the Irish curry sauce a miss as the normal one was good enough!
Great smiles and great laughs had by the staff up in the Codfather. Solid service and great food. Potatoes where the finest fluffy and crunchy no oily taste. The curry sauce was thick and flavours where impeccable, the cheese was made with mature cheddar which is always the best as you get a strong rich taste. Solid 8.9/10.
Today I picked up a take away from here, unfortunately it was really disappointing. We ordered two small chips, one large fish and one jumbo sausage.
The fish was lovely.
The chips were very poor and half of one of the trays was actually just full of old batter bits? The other tray had some batter bits but not as many as half for sure. I’ve never experienced this before but it was really off putting.
The jumbo sausage was ok - but it had three or four solid lumps in the sausage itself.
Lovely food and a nice aesthetic since the renovation! however someone who I can only presume was the boss was really talking down to one of the staff which made it very tense and uncomfortable for me and my children. It’s a shame but unlikely to come back :/
£2.90 for a cone of chips in a tray .. daylight robbery. Literally about 20 chips. Chips wasn’t too bad this time around unlike last time they seemed a day old and stale. Ah well never again that’s 2 times to many.
Hello as you have replied I will respond on here. “My comments rather silly and pointless” Nope just sharing my experience. “Impressed you find time to count the number of chips you received” I didn’t waste much time counting so little chips.
“Why not mention it to a member of staff who would of gladly give you more” as I said they put my chips in a box/tray which was closed until I got back to work.
“As for £2.90 I’m not sure how often you go out shopping but I would suggest you do more often and check prices” I eat out regularly thanks, I just don’t like paying for a half empty box.

Helen and I popped into The Codfather feeling cold,hungry and a bit like a cloudy February day as it was...We left here feeling well fed,warm and uplifted after great service, excellent Cod & chips,great music and a lovely chat to the Codfather himself ???? Well worth a trip to Abergavenny just to call into this Gem of a chippy...now our 'go to' in Y Fenni ????????⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am a regular customer, These guys always do an amazing job delivering quick to llangattock and the food has always been great from here! Everytime we crave a chip shop we keep coming back here! Keep up the good work guys 5*
Fantastic food, freshly cooked, covid safe, The staff are absolutely fantastic. Very clean. High customer service, the staff are very friendly and very welcoming. The prices are good. The fruity curry is a must recommend, its the best. Totally enjoyed our food from here. ???? We have returned back and we will return in the future ????????????????????????Recommended. ????????
