I moved down to Surrey July last year, from London! I say this as in all my 40+ years of living there, I've never had such consistent and tasty chinese food as this restaurant! Always hot, always tasty, never greasy and always get a large free bag of prawn crackers too! 10/10!!
I use this place every time I visit Ottery, I come from rugby which has many many Chinese takeaways and I wish even one of them was half a good as this one.
Used to eat here in 1998 during school, would get the "China Chef Special" and it was amazing but I didn't see it anymore, used to sit and watch Jerry Springer while eating before heading to class, Went back recently and was super disappointed
This was one of the worse meals I have had in several years, parts were still raw like the batter on the chicken pieces for the sweet and sour. The sweet and sour source was like very runny water with little taste. The egg fried rice was so stoggie it had no taste and lumpy. The mushroom and chicken was I cold just as if the hot mushrooms had been added to cold chicken and a stock which I could not identify.
Will I return for another take away, no.
I ordered beef rice and beef curry and I am no means very fussy when it comes to take away and I don't ever leave reviews but the meal I attempted to just eat was disgusting. The meat was slimy and the rice was stodgy and it made me feel sick when trying to eat it. I'm so disappointed and what a waist of just over a tenner. I will not be going back ever again.
This is the first time we have used this takeaway and we definitely won't be returning. We ordered lemon chicken which came in a jelly, the consistency was very different to ones we've had before. Rice was a dark color suggesting oil was old & the sauces were very thick and gloopy. Considering it was quite expensive we were very disappointed.

One star because they did at least provide food. Only half the food though. We live a way out from ottery and it is a half hour round trip. On return home we had the rice/ chips/ sauce part of the order but the meat element was missing. Apparently their mix up, they agreed, on ringing. The rest of the order we had paid for was still there, not given to us. (good eh?) They would not replace the chips etc that would be stone cold after the 45 minute delay caused by themselves. Their best suggestion was the microwave. Nice. Microwave chips and warmed up rice, no food hazard there! Also despite their admissions of fault, no apology. Poor in the extreme does not begin to describe it.
