I have had positive experiences with this garage in the past for simple repairs and would have rated them 5 stars for those. However, my recent experience with a more complex repair was extremely disappointing.
My van, which I rely on daily for work, was in the garage for 8 weeks. Throughout this time, there was no clear direction on the problem, resulting in a significant amount of money spent without a proper diagnosis. I understand that finding faults can sometimes be a process of elimination, but each misdiagnosis came with a bill for parts that ultimately did not resolve the issue.
The lack of communication was particularly frustrating. I had to continuously call for updates, and at no point did the garage offer an apology for the delay or any alternative solutions, such as a courtesy car. The entire process was handled very poorly, and I was left feeling ignored and undervalued as a customer.
Due to the length of time my van was kept, I lost work and had to spend hundreds of pounds on misdiagnosed repairs. While the van is now running due to a simple fix the garage eventually discovered, the entire process left me at a financial loss.
Additionally, my van arrived at the garage with a full tank of Shell fuel. Rob, without testing, diagnosed the fuel as the problem for the vehicle not starting. The fuel was drained, leaving me out of pocket almost immediately, and I was then charged for a fuel filter and new fuel. The fuel was never tested or kept for testing, resulting in a complete loss to me.
After I called to express my dissatisfaction with the invoice raised only a few days after the credit note, I was shocked to be shouted at and told about the garage's losses. As a business owner myself, I understand that jobs can sometimes exceed initial quoted timescales, but I feel it’s crucial that the customer is kept updated. If additional work is needed, an updated quote should be provided to complete the job.
I am deeply upset by this treatment. A garage I once trusted and recommended to others has now lost my business entirely. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but I feel I have no other option as they seem indifferent to their customers' satisfaction.
Rob and Matt are always helpful and go above and beyond to tend to work that needs to be done for our vehicles. It is truly a rarity that you find a service provided like theirs in these current times. Outstanding customer service and labour carried out by this fine establishment, we are very fortunate to have them so close.
I stopped to buy some engine oil as my oil light had come on when I was heading for Bishopsteignton. I was not only sold the appropriate oil, but the very helpful mechanic also put it in my car for me. Absolutely amazing service.
Rob and the team at Central garage are great! They go the extra mile to provide outstanding service. In addition to this, they have come to my rescue twice when I've had issues out of hours. Thanks all!
1st August 2022, Our first day of our 10 day Holiday we broke down, Green flag attended to be told seized calipers, also damaged discs and pads on our Skoda Octavia. Central Garage went above and beyond for us not only took our car in even tho they unfortunately had a funeral to attend to that day but said they would do everything in there power to get it done that day for us.They even helped us finish our day out by taking us into Teigmouth so our children still got a day out. Not only did they finish the car before 5pm their service, communication, dedication to us as customers was Outstanding!! Even the amount they charge us was extremely reasonable this small independent garage is Very well run, Organised, Honest and Trustworthy. We highly recommend them to anyone needing work on cars etc.There are very little to No garages around these days with such high standards like these guys!!

Honest garage with honest prices and really friendly for a non motor minded chap like myself.
Have used the garage now for the last 2 years for servicing and always found the prices very reasonable and having a loan car from them is very handy too. Top garage indeed and can't say a bad thing about them.
Rob, Matthew, Jackie and the rest of the team at Central Garage have always gone above and beyond! I live in Exeter but purposely drive down to Bishopsteignton to use their services because they provide such good quality and are always so kind.
