Best KPortal Reviews
Stayed at the Marriot Worsley Country Club so decided to give this restaurant a go for dinner…
[Atmosphere]
The atmosphere was lovely, like a subdued glow; not too busy and not too loud, perfect lighting and comfortable seats with lovely crockery to accompany.
[Service]
The waitresses were all lovely and polite to speak with and when serving. Service was fairly prompt.
[Food]
It was the food that was the let down; ultimately I came for the food, everything else is secondary - if the food doesn’t taste great then the atmosphere won’t be able to save the review no matter how nice it is.
I ordered a King Prawn Linguine and whilst the prawns themselves tasted succulent, the rest of the dish was literally pasta mixed in with a tin of tomatoe paste(!) It lacked flavour, depth and form.
The dessert however was lovely, a brilliant take on sticky toffee pudding and very nicely presented.
I would be willing to give this place another go off of the back of the staff, service and dessert, but the main dish would definitely be different!
Recently moved to the area and wanted a fancy meal, thought the Cast Iron grill would of been good given it’s menu; marketing and the fact it’s in a Marriott hotel.
The food was horrendous. Starters where extremely poor and looked/tasted cheap, the steaks for the mains where more like frying steaks - super thin and over cooked, I asked for medium but got very well done. We also ordered some roast vegetable as a side, but what arrived looked so designating that I asked them to remove it. Instead of fresh roast vegetables we were given something that looked like shredded stir fry with yogurt on top - it looked disgusting! I’ve added a picture to show. We were so upset with the meal we didn’t stay for dessert.
The service on the other hand was great - lovely and attentive staff! They removed the veg off the bill and gave us 20% discount as we were so unhappy - however the bill still totalled over £80 , so it’s not a cheap meal to be unhappy with.
Chef loves pepper! Tomato soup, was more like pepper soup, steak over peppered. Peppercorn sauce….. ????
Friendly staff though
Read many of the reviews and was slightly unsure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The food was lovely and tasty, I had the chicken liver parfait to start which was delicious, my steak was lovely and tender and the bearnaise sauce excellent. Service was great, a special thanks to Henry who was there whenever you needed him, well done to everyone a lovely meal and experience.
We visited the Cast Iron last night, staff were super nice. Sadly the same couldn't be said for the food portion size. All ordered the same; braised beef pie, with truffle mashed potato and pureed red cabbage. The pie was delicious, however so very disappointed with the portion size! Expecting a nice portion of mashed potato- surprised to see it delicately piped on top of the pie. The pureed red cabbage was used to decorate the plate (chef style swirl) £22. Still hungry we ordered 2 portions of chips - very mean small portions! £5 each. More shocks with the bill - an additional £4.50 for an 'egg cup size' gravy!
Visited for our 3rd time for the £25 Sunday lunch , first 2 times fantastic 10/10 all round food and service. 3rd time we got charged £30 For the Sunday lunch , when we questioned it we got told it was for the pianist . So a table of 6 all paid £5 each to listen to the pianist who had been there every other time we had been . It’s the principal of the matter really not the £5 extra that has put us off . The waitress informed us there was 200 sittings on that Sunday all paying an extra £5 …… that pianists must be rolling in it . Apparently we should have been informed of the extra charge when arriving but then don't advertise the Sunday lunch for £25 . It should be £30 ………
Fantastic experience would highly recommend for a date night or any occasion!
Goated experience Tara locked in and made me feel special
