Stayed for four nights. Good sizes pitches. Showers were kept very clean for the duration of our stay. Paul and all the good folk who work here could not have been more helpful and friendly. Friday and Saturday in the bar was great fun, bit of music, a pub quiz and a great host in Caroline the DJ. Food was good and reasonably priced. Very handy location for the park and ride into Chester. All in all a lovely stay, thankyou to all.
Wow love this place . We came for a long weekend and loved every minute of our stay. Carriages Pub & Accommodation was great. The food was excellent and if you fancy a perfectly cooked steak, well this is the place. We stayed at the touring caravan and motor home site which was great even though it only accommodates about 14 pitches. They do have a large field with more pitches for tents but has not electric hook up on the larger field. Very Dog friendly and not far from the village of Tattenhall. Great place if you fancy visiting Chester & the zoo, only 8miles away. I really recommend this place .
We stayed for the past 2 nights at this site which is small and was very peaceful. a bit of traffic noise as the field is next to a road which, although not a main road, has a steady traffic flow. There is a bus stop outside which would be handy for trips to Chester etc.where parking is very expensive. Amenities are good, the toilet/shower rooms (x2) spacious and extremely clean. We used our van bathroom, so didn't try the showers. The pub/restaurant on site is lovely, the food we had was excellent. I enjoyed the best steak I've had in many years. The owners, Diane and Paul, very busy but always had time to chat if you wanted it, they are friendly but professional. We had a marvellous weekend at this little site, but as we live close by (30 mins away) we didn't do much in the area. There are several local family attractions including the Cheshire Workshops, which is a candle factory with lovely cafe serving delicious food at a reasonable price. We steered clear of the Ice Cream Farm nearby, having had a rather unpleasant and overcharged experience there at Christmas. If you do want to try their Cheshire ice creams, they are served in the Carriages pub, so no need for an expensive visit to the farm which is normally packed with families, but great if you do have young kids. Overall, I would recommend this site to people looked for a totally chilled out experience with excellent food on site and very welcoming hosts. Thanks Diane, Paul and Andrea for a great weekend!
Lovely little campsite. We have stayed here numerous times since lockdown was lifted. Where do I start. First and foremost the pub. This is one of the main reasons that we keep returning. Paul and Diane are excellent hosts along with Andrea. The food cooked by Wendy is delicious, you have to try the sticky toffee pudding it’s to die for. We have always been made to feel welcome even on our very first stay when we rocked up at 2200 hrs. Paul very kindly went and made our group some nibbles. The wild camping is great, well set out. All in all it’s a brilliant site with easy reach to Chester and surrounding area. Great friendly atmosphere especially now it’s an Adult only site. Great escape not too far from home
Stayed here for two nights in our Motorhome to visit the Christmas market in Chester. Paul, Diane and Andrea made us feel extremely welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them, on Friday night Paul suggested that we take our home made chilli over and he would plate it for us. To our surprise when it arrived it was complete with rice, chips and poppadoms and home made mango chutney. What a lovely gesture. On Saturday night we ate in the pub I had home made fish cakes and my husband had steak and ale pie, both meals were absolutely delicious, it’s obvious that Paul takes pride in his kitchen, his triple cooked chips are divine. Anyone who stays on the campsite should eat here for sure. It is situated on a busy road however there is no road noise during the night. We didn’t use the shower/toilet but did look and they were absolutely spotless. I would recommend anyone who wants to visit Chester to stay here as there is a local bus service at two hour intervals with the bus stop 200metres away. We noticed various footpaths local to the site and are sure that if you had a OS map you would find some enjoyable walks. Once again Paul Diane and Andrea we thank you for a lovely weekend and will most certainly visit again. Anne and Phil
Stayed for three nights. Diane and Paul are so friendly. My mum of 97 years stayed in a beautiful room whist we stayed on the campsite. Ideal location for Chester and north Wales excursions
Food excellent and the entertainment was great fun. Also very pet friendly
Would recommend 100 percent
Only one bad thing... and it's not the owners fault. We went to pitch 10 where there was an intrusive tent on a corner pitch facing directly into our caravan! (perhaps think a little next time. Other people may use the other pitches) Noisy people in it too. They left thankfully. ||||Anyway, that aside, what a lovely little campsite. Everything you need.||The pub food is fantastic and Paul is a diamond. He checks everyone is good and we had some great banter with him. ||No issues with electric tripping, all amenities accessible and a nice big grassy area for the kids to play.||||Would definitely go back.
Lovely little campsite, owners work really hard to make the camping stay one which makes you want to go back. Camping facilities clean and effective. Dogs, children and cyclists are genuinely welcomed. Site is beside a quiet-ish road which does see a little traffic passing at rush hour but quiet overnight. Canal is approx 1 mile away on quiet roads, the towpath suitable for cycling in summer, turning from an off road path, progressively more maintained and ultimately tarmacced towards Chester, which is approx 10 miles away by canal. Beautiful local countryside, lots to do in the area. No need to go far to eat - good honest food in the bar and restaurant (open most evenings but worth checking first). Recommended.
