Often eat here with my 9yr old Granddaughter. Great children's menu. It includes older children & gives them more exciting, adult choices. Main menu is great & breakfast menu. Sometimes however the waiting time in the mornings for breakfast is quite long, but on the whole an excellent place to eat.
Stopped to use the BP pulse charger. Decided to have breakfast. Really friendly staff. Great that our dog was welcomed too. Good breakfasts with lattes. Highly recommend
We came to Carfraemill Hotel for 5 nights from Mon-Friday with our large breed dog. I can honestly say we had a lovely time and could not fault any of the staff. Charlie in particular was very professional in dealing with any issues that arose during our stay. My husband, myself and Johnny our dog were all made to feel very welcome at this hotel outside Lauder. Breakfast was included and we also had dinner in the hotel for 3 nights out of our 5. Plenty choices on all 3 courses, we particularly enjoyed the Kedgeree and Chicken Balmoral. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed the Cullen Skink soup. Overall I feel there was a friendly ambience and welcoming service to this older styled, dog friendly hotel. We would visit again.
Nice restaurant with friendly staff, good food and a homely feel. Proper big hearth as well! Food was a good price for quality and portions, kids meals were huge for my almost two year old but she obviously enjoyed it as she gave it a proper try. We will be back again@
Went in for lunch..
Would have had a vegetarian roast had there been one..
Macaroni dishes were chipped, (macaroni was good) lettuce salad was tired & brown in parts...
Choc croissant bread pudding ~ :good helping~ didn't see or taste any chocolate in it.. ice cream scoop was tiny!
Tasted good just not what it could/should have been..
Try roasted flaked almonds or marzipan in there!
The seating is good plenty space... however some of the furniture is extremely tired & needing replaced!
My favourite place to go locally. Always lovely staff ans such a cozy atmosphere. Great for families of all ages too. Food is amazing I highly suggest trying the fish and chips and toffee sponge for after ????
Smallest en coldest room of our three weeks Scotland tour. Radiator was off, room icecold. Took 7 hours to warm up, despite the ultra small size of it. Upon request no mobile radiator or blankets available. Hot drink was offered but nonetheless figured on our bill next day. On top of that worst breakfast in Scotland: no cereals, no toast, no fruit or fruitjuice, very small portions of (over)cooked food.|Would certainly go somewhere else, a couple of miles further in Lauder!
Food was delicious. Only negative was cutlery was really dirty and table hadn't been wiped properly as there were crumbs from whoever had been sat there previously. Last time we visited at breakfast we had the same issue. We went for breakfast and there was dry food on the table from the night before. Don't think I'd visit again due to lack of cleanliness which is a real shame! Front of house staff need to up their game!
